Right. You are 100% correct. I will admit that I am new here and feeling my way around. I will take your ideas as valid. This OS is new to me. As I said in post 52 I may have over-reacted and apologized. I am not perfect. I come from an environment where stuff works out the box. This try it and see if it jacks up your device is a bit new to me. I will say this here and now, it was not my intention to get into a pissing contest with anyone. I was making observations as a new person to the group that has a pretty cool device and wants to get the most out of it. I did not bother to post to Nokia as I know that are not up to the task. I came here to where the hard core guys are. My comments, while taken as offensive by some, were not intended that way.

Now, can you recommend a good movie converter for Mac so that I can put movies on my N800. I have tried different formats but they seem to either not have sound or video, or are screwed up. Or can you recommend a media player. I tried mplayer but it was not very stable and did not work well.

Maybe you should stick to out-of-the box software, as that seems to work best for you. You can find experimental software for any platform, be it Windows, Mac or Nokia Internet Tablet, and your lack of exposure to such software is not a reason to single out and criticise the Nokia Internet Tablet or it's developers.

May I suggest you try using the Search function to find the numerous threads discussing video conversion and playback (no flames, please).

BTW - this is the most dedicated forum around for Internet Tablets, but it's definately not "hard core" in any technical sense (it's more "end user" focused in my opinion). For hard core technical users, try #maemo on irc or the maemo users/developers newsgroups. By all means get into a p*ssing contest there - that would be truly amusing.

The object of your post was not to inform but to pick a fight. Your assumption that I didn't use the search function is a testament to your myopic view of this thread. As for criticizing MY N800, I can do that anytime I feel like it as I paid for it. As for the developers here, I have said more than once that they are the ones that make the N800 go. I have nothing against any developer here, and I have said this as well, in so many words.

Fine, ban me, buuuuuutttt you would have to start with yourself, and a few others that threw the first stones. As I made clear over and over, and over I have nothing against the developers, the whatever here. I posted my opinions that others here seem to agree with. The difference is that I didn't post their PM's. This is where you and I differ.

Re-read my post - none of that is offensive or designed to insult you, merely inform you. I posted your PM because you're a typical internet coward, telling me to piss off and eff myself while you insult everyone here by calling them "whiners" - then try and portray yourself in public as some sort of saint!

Mr. Antilles,

You do not know me nor do I know you, so we are both guaranteed mutual anonymity. I do not have to hide behind a "bet" to prove a point. I could simply not respond, change my user name and come back and post, but I didn't. I have read almost all of these forums and have gotten a picture of many of the posters here. I could give you a breakdown, of the funny ones, helpful ones, the quick tempered ones, etc...... I knew as sure as I know my N800 will boot by itself that if I wrote that he would post it because it was too tempting not to post it.

So you can believe it or not as we both no it really does not matter.

What was the purpose of even bothering to post here? Seriously? Why add more?
