ram? or built in 64 gb memory? Unlike the puny built in 16gb of the N8, hopefully our N9 will indeed get 64gb of flash. that would be GODLY.

i'm jus sayin
n900 already has a huge ***
i mean, i cant easily fit in pants, and its comparatively heavy
i wont mind if it was a bit heavier/changed dimensions to give it a bigger battery -__-
and if n900 had a bigger partition for OS, it's the ultimate device
i've already got it up to 900mhz
what more could you ask..

Yeah, all that memory would be awesome. I think that it'll probably be in line with what the n8 offers though. The phones will only be separated by 3 months in release, and they are both supposed top of the line "N" series phones.

512 MB RAM-memory, would be a mistake, I think.
In 2009 and 2010 it worked and was enough, but I'd demand 1 GB in 2011 and 2012.
With N900, one sometimes notices more memory would be needed.
For example Mappero seems to be quite a memory hog (lots of tiles for smooth scrolling?) Also web-pages are not getting any lighter.

if that N9 will really have an ARM Cortex A8 @ 1Ghz, then I will really go for that one! it has the same CPU as the SamSung Wave and the phone is truly awesome!!!

More doesn't hurt, but really most of the Android phones are running on 256mb ram because of 2.1 with no problem and Android is ram eater. This coming from Galaxy S owner.

Wanting more than 512mb ram is in very bottom of my list.

A8 @ 1ghz or A9 @ 1ghz, i would rather have the latter ... sgx540 ... doesnt look like this device is gettin an IR port again ...

In N900 I nowadays can have C++(native), python, bash and Java-applications running simultanously and it can be very RAM consuming.

I do not know is Android capable running normal Java programs, Python and native ones. With J2Android MIDP-programs can be converted to Dalvik. But (if) running just Dalvik executables, lots of memory is saved or used efficiently as only one virtual machine which has all the needed software libraries is always partly in the RAM memory.

N900 (or future Meego devices) having Python, Gtk, Qt and Java software libraries and environments active all the time could easily benefit more than 512 MB RAM.

Which 512MB 2009 devices are we talking about here ? Let's get realistic here. The memory size is going to be determined by the SoC, adding in memory chips is not the route most vendors will take due to cost, space, battery, etc. I did not see TI making 1GB DRAM OMAP3s, so demanding it won't make it happen. On a side note, it's still 2010 and the N9 is not a 2012 model.
