I'm not sure if I should be worried or not. My order tracking is showing pending as everyone else. TBH I'm in no major rush, I've an e90 now and my current contract runs out 24th Dec but if it runs another week or so it won't kill me..... lets be honest there is far more crap happening in the world than us not getting our new toys!

I've not chased MPD as TBH there comes a point when all the chasing does nothing but stop people actually doing there job. We can all shout and scream till the cows come home, it won't make it arrive any quicker... let teh guys get on with teir jobs and we have a chance of it getting here a little earlier. OK, MPD could have done a little better but hey, show me a webtailer that doesn;t have issues with high desireable, low availability kit

there comes a certain amount of pain being an early adopter, get used to it, accept the things you can't change and change the things you can.

I spent nearly 12 months waiting for stuff to be ported from S60 V2 to V3 when I got my N80, learn patience and work with people rather than against them and you will feel much much better inside yourself...

remember , 9 months down teh line your memories will be of a superb piece of kit, not the pain of getting it
Well said. Lets let them do there job. I bet they are pulling there hair out answering email and phone calls. Although a simple informative email to customers explaining the situation would have been ideal as in "actually, don't expect the phone to be delivered till January", then we could have made better choices to which phone to buy from which source.
As it stands I feel like canceling my MPD order out of principal, but I think they know they have us by the 'short and curlies'as its the only choice of phone in its class.
They don't even have to inform us until there are excess units appearing in official nokia stores. We'll be there or thereabouts waiting for that day. Either let our wallets do the talking or wait patiently and let them play their not so clever games. Ill bet the whole process has been pushed back a DAY at least by the constant phone calls and emails and webchats though. Im waiting for now but much more messing and people are gonna start dropping off for alternatives for all the wrong reasons.

That is exactly what they rely on to fool the unsuspecting.

According to British law any merchant is free to advertise products they sell

Just like my corner shop does

And according to quick
a google search "Nokiaretail" have an agreed license to use the name as they sell *mainly* Nokia's products

They are not the same company. They don't have the same shipping agreements nor do they share the same staff.

But if you choose to believe that they are then good luck with the wait.

I'm off to see the head of coca cola at my corner shop. His name is Ranjeet Singh

I called one and they said they would, but another said the opposite.

What do you think? I haven't actually committed any money to them yet and just giving my phone number for a callback "hen they're in stock" sounds a bit dubious anyway, so if a store has stock on Friday I would be happy to nip in and pick one up!
I've had the same, one Nokia shop says I need to start a new contract and another said I could just walk in and upgrade same day on my current contract which has just expired.
Vodafone UK said it depends on each shops rules as they could all differ.
This particular Nokia shop also said they only had 5 names on the reserve list so there would be enough stock for walk ins, really? Thats surprising! After all I have read on this forum I do not believe anything anyone says until I see it in the hand of Mr shopkeeper...and that doesn't look like any time soon as the excuses are still the same as last month.stock next week....next week.......

I made my order on the 28th Nov and yes, because I wanted to use my current Vodafone number on my new contract they sent me an email saying that they needed a PAC code and that it will delay my order blah, blah, blah. I didn't know that this was required so I just told them to give me a new number so that my order was not delayed and this is what I got in my reply.

I don't know if I should just stick with my HD2 coming in a few days, or cancel my order and wait until the n900 is available at the carphonewarehouse.

Yeah similar situation, tho i ordered on the 8th of nov. I'm also thinking about the HD2 but just not sure. also i only originally ordered through MPD cos CPW showed no sign of n900 anywhere. if they'd advertised it sooner i'd have just picked it as an upgrade on o2.

I'm trying to justify keeping both the HTC HD2 and the N900 but it just seems like a waste as they are both similar devices.

The biggest pluses for me on the HD2 is the gorgeous 4.3" screen and the intuitive HTC sense UI. I love the cover-flow style of the music player and, again, viewing web pages on that 4.3" screen will be luxurious.

The N900 brings out the geek in me more so than the HD2. I love the multitasking capabilities that it offers and I have to say I am a fan of the way it looks. Smaller screen but I would assume that images would look just that little more crips with a higher DPI. Also the physical keyboard would be beneficial as that screen space would not be compromised like it would be with an on-screen keyboard.

I think I'll have to make my mind up when I have both of them in my hands.

The idea that i mentioned before about going on strike outside the main MPD store might not work......... I live in Manchester won't make sense me coming down that far. But we need to do something, something big, big enough to teach MPD a lesson they won't forget.
