I don't know why overhead is so much but it is on wifi too. The real throughput of 892.11g is just over 25mbps, and you can test it by moving a large file over wifi
I cannot now find where was that article that explained all this but I remember that the HSDPA class of the N900 was listed as 21.1/10.2 so it may very well be as fast as your SGS2. Nokia has always been quicker than the competition adopting new 3G speeds.
I'd love to know for sure whether it's actually better than the SGSII in this area.
SGSII having HSPA+ does (at least superficially) seem like a performance advantage.

A Swiss retailer estimates that the phone will be available by the end of the week and, as far as I can see, provides world-wide shipping (at least you can select the country in the initial step). The price is currently 659 CHF (about 540 EUR, black 64 GB) + shipping.

I haven't tried to complete all the steps though (next-next-next-finish).

Good to know and i hope he is on target but i think this time he will be, him and everyone else who is selling the N9.

I just want to see this rediculous waiting over and people with the N9 in there hands.

The word from Nokia headquarters is the device will be in place and ready for sale by the 11th of October and this time it had better be right because even i have had it with Nokia and the lies.

This is one way of forcing it on consumers. Using the Nokia brand power but with ONE choice of platform.
Cannibalisation of WP7 sales by N9 is better than losing those sales to a competitor.

Cannibilisation should only be a problem for a monopoly / volume sales leader.

Maybe Nokia hasn't figured out that they aren't a monopoly / volume sales leader any more.

The only other explanation is that Elop is putting WP7 success ahead of Nokia's success.

I think Elop and Nokia think very different and i just hope Nokia do indeed have a plan b when Elop really flunks.

So you've been following this thread very regularly & seen all the other ads I'm talking about?
I think there's been about two that we know for sure, have been shown on TV in other countries.
There's probably others that people haven't bothered to report of course...
Sweet, I love the fact that it's a totally different ad, shows even more that they're pretty serious!

yup i know the two ads you are referring to, and the ad i saw werent them. those two ads had the same concept, however the ad i saw on tv was different.
i wasnt paying too much attention to the ad at start, so i dont clearly remember the content of it.. i just remember a voice over talking (i think) and images.. and it took a while before it showed the actual phone with all the swiping fun-ness =]
