2. The reason theyt swicth to wayland could be related to libhybris eg: they decided to go for some GFX HW that only supports Android drivers.
But that I am not trying to be negative. Just saying... However if Wayland/Qt slows don release I def not have a problem with that cause stick to Qt4.8 would harm alot more atleast on the app area...

My guess was before they ssaid Qt5/Wayland that they may release around december but now I would not be suprised if they change to begining of next year.
For two reasons:
1. Migration may take more time than expected. After testing the latest SDK I have seen more issues than the old release.
I hope switch to Wayland is accompanied with native drivers, and not with libhybris, and it's made because Wayland simply performs better.
Haven't seen this in TMO yet:

As I've understood in my chats with them, one of the main reasons the switch was done, was to accommodate libhybris & hence better hw support.
libhybris was never going to be practical with Qt4/X, they decided the advantages that Qt5/Wayland/libhybris brings, outweighs sticking with Qt4x/X for at least the 1st device.

Sure, in general. I mean, I hope in their first device at least they managed to get the native drivers. But, what can you do, if not.

Well yes, if you are talking about "word processing" which is a misnormer anyways and most of times a horrible overkill... I rarely use anything else than emacs & vi as my word processing tools and they do nicely for me, thank you.
But there are some tools that really are the killer application in office suites, be thy libre or legacy, and that's spreadsheets.
be it calc, exel, lotus, whatever, but that's the killer application on office tools. I couldn't go far without a sheet to type my numbers in
