Jolla hasn't changed the imagery in their website with the latest design though...

i'd be happy if this was the case, because the presumption would be a modern SoC which I believe would be ebenficial for the same reason as moving to Qt5/Wayland.

For two reasons:
1. Migration may take more time than expected. After testing the latest SDK I have seen more issues than the old release.
2. The reason theyt swicth to wayland could be related to libhybris eg: they decided to go for some GFX HW that only supports Android drivers.

Yeah but based on chats I had before the official announcement, I think they decided to make that move long before the announcement, even though it was "surprising" to us.
So I reckon December was most likely always factoring the move to Qt/Wayland/libhybris, of course, it's probably always been a "optimistic" estimation.

As I've understood in my chats with them, one of the main reasons the switch was done, was to accommodate libhybris & hence better hw support.
libhybris was never going to be practical with Qt4/X, they decided the advantages that Qt5/Wayland/libhybris brings, outweighs sticking with Qt4x/X for at least the 1st device.

Yeah I saw that @TMO earlier in the year, I've heard zero solid news about it since...

Yeah but, is that their official Facebook page? I'm tired of this social communication crud, they should put it on official site(s), or official social channels at the very least.
Until we see it coming from those places, it's just hot air....

Will the price drop to 299 Euro before release? If it's true that they sold +50000 the could afford to lower the price and increase volume and market share. 399 is acceptable but not == what you get.

The summed up informatiin comes from an unofficial facebook page but the two pictures were also posted by the official Jolla page.

Sure, in general. I mean, I hope in their first device at least they managed to get the native drivers. But, what can you do, if not.

Well even if I agree it would be nice with native drivers, we have to realise the facts that to many manufactors does only provide Android drivers

This is also true on many "non smartphone" embedded SoC's this days

mikecomputing: Jolla said, that it's not impossible to convince manufacturers to produce drivers, but you need to "impress" them with high potential sales figures or to pay a lot. I think Jolla can aspire for a lot of sales, they are not some amateur project.

be it calc, exel, lotus, whatever, but that's the killer application on office tools. I couldn't go far without a sheet to type my numbers in
Makes me think of one of my projectleaders at work. He is using m$ office and everytime I open the document in libre/open it is broken. And then someday I said to him to export to PDF. Ofcourse the M$ did break it. I am damn suprised M$ cantdoit correct when open apps doing it. I am also suprised okular works WAY better than adobes own pdf reader.

I just say this opensource rocks Btw to be ontopic again because I am a bigfan of KDE community also I found this on planetkde:

Jolla cooperate with kde also

The pictures are just some bad photoshopping, and jolla did the wrong thing and retweeted, and now people think it's the real thing.
