A hybrid connection? I assume then that means some can go through IPv4 and some through IPv6? How do you force an app (like DC or TOR) to only go through one?

If I can at anytime enable/disable it then I might be more willing to try it out.

I think it would require too much fiddling to guide someone through it.

Here's the thread for the IPv6 test for T-Mobile (don't know if you're using tmobile?).

Here are instructions and deb that will setup an IPv6 only APN (leaves other APN's intact)

This post explains how to setup the hybrid IPv4/IPv6 connection. It is my understanding that the IPv6 nameserver is listed first, and is checked first (if no IPv6 server is available, it goes down to IPv4). Google should have all IPv6 servers available.

I am using the hybrid connection and TOR without issue. With the IPv6-only APN, it should be easy to switch between connections for testing. The only issue I had was (much like early versions of fmms/fapn) the N900 will not consistently pick a default APN. So most of the time (in my case) it would default to IPv6 only, and I'd lose TOR. I could manually switch, and get TOR back, but that was a hassle.

It'd be nice to use IPv6 only, the server should have less load, faster speeds, although some sites (a small %?) might not be reachable.

Any questions, I'll try to help.

When you enable the IPv6 (like on this page https://code.google.com/p/n900ipv6/wiki/README ), you get a new GPRS IPv6 connection, but your old IPv4 GPRS connections and wifi still work fine. You'll have only IPv6 if you are connected with the IPv6 connection.

When I change the "Screen Name" in Google Voice setting, and then use "SMS through GV" to a number, it automatically resets the screen name to my registered phone number (callback number - not my GV number). Can I have an arbitrary screen name in text to display in "Conversation" threads?

Also, the thread in "Conversations" (using SMS through GV) doesn't recognize my avatar (already set for my own contact - myself). It shows a blank contact (default blue icon).

supposedly that is a bug in Maemo not the program.
changing topics has portrait mode just arrived to DC or has it been there for awhile, good job either way!

Screen names are normally meant to be "what name is shown to people chatting with me". That doesn't make sense in TOR (except maybe the GV account number). Instead the screenname represents what your callback number is. I can't remember, their might be an advanced flag to show the account number instead

I think showing your system-wide avatar requires the Connection Manager to support custom avatars. TOR does not.

I don't remember when I added portrait mode but I do remember I had forgotten to push it out. It might disappear when I finish the Qt port (hopefully I'll let people start testing soon) since I haven't gotten it working with Qt yet.

Thanks for clearing that up. Can it show contact's name though? Because after I send a message using "SMS through GV" to one of my contact, the chat thread shows up with the contact's number, not the contact's name. Is it bug 8508?

And what do the "Ignore Dnd" and "Forward" in advanced settings do? The screen name is the callback number, so I guess "Forward" does not do that, it must have some other function.

It should show the contact's name. If you are running from extras (rather than extras-testing) than it is because of a bug exposed by a change Google made to how I get contacts. A fix is in the testing stage.

Ignore Dnd is an optimization. If you never bother with dnd than TOR never needs to bother checking it and updating it.

Forward was how I used to have callback configured.

I just noticed the update_now command in the newest version. What exactly does this do (does it update everything, ...)?

Have you had any luck with this:

Hmm, on the desktop this didn't seem to happen. I think that was because it noticed the person creating the channel shutdown. I could experiment with explicitly closing the channel to see if that closes the dialog. Otherwise there isn't much I can do.

reset_state_machine already can have passed in what state machine you want to reset (it just defaults to all).

update_now behaves the same but does not have the delay.

I fixed the bug in reset_state_machine (and made sure it was applied to update_now) so that it would not schedule an update for something that is disabled.

I've not had a chance to play with that yet though it isn't much code to be added. I'll try to get something together and post it here to see how well it works for you.
