ITEM_LINUXRC="/usr/share/backupmenu/BackupMenuLauncher.item"
I've actually tried that several times, but for me it never works. Still not sure why.
But, the real problem is that bootmenu's not in extras-testing, so I can't promote my package.

Uh, no. Don't do that. that's 'ubi', and that's the actual rootfs of your device. the other one's a ramdisk(i.e. entirely in memory) and that's created by backupmenu.

That's what you want. What you were doing would have ended up "bricking" your device, until you did a full flash.

Yes. That's *normal*. That's how Maemo works. You should now have factory settings - no files, no packages installef - but those two entries are *supposed* to be there.

You'll have to install with BackupMenu, of course, but it should work perfectly.

This has probably been asked before but I found too many unrelated results.

Can this be installed over power-kernel 47/48 or does one have to take precautions?

I always told myself I would install this once my system is hosed once, but so far never needed a reflash....

Working perfectly fine on kp47, at least for multiboot-backupmenu package.

I had to change to another device because of broken usb-port and I gave Backupmenu a try. Awesome!. Took less than 15 minutes to get an identifical device with all custom icons and settings. Great work!

Try promoting it anyway, and see what happens - normally dependencies of a package are supposed to be auto-promoted with the package. (This is for sure always supposed to happen with items NOT in user/whatever sections - sadly it doesn't always happen even with those packages due to repository glitches. I'm not 100% sure about bootmenu since that IS in a user/whatever section. But worth a try?)
