you can compile v47 in scratchbox:
$ apt-get source kernel-power
$ cd kernel-power-*
$ dpkg-buildpackage -b

or compile with madde:
1. download dsc kernel-power package, unpack it with dpkg-source -x
2. apply madde patch
3. run mad dpkg-buildpackage -b
Or maybe you can include the v4l dvb-stack and headers in kp48.
That way we can easily compile our drivers against its headers

I see. So, if we can't cheat chip, maybe we can cheat maemo to "think" that voltage is higher, than it's in reality, and - for example- shutdown device on 3.0 V real voltage (for maemo, that would be exact same as now)? We would still have access to real voltage via bq_27x00 module (for monitoring aps, scripts etc), and chip would happily start learning cycles and calibration...

Is it *everything* hardcoded in bme, or bme read something, that we can "hack" to cheat bme? Anyone? joerg_rw?

It's all about closed source bme/mce unfortunatelly. We can try to make a rewrite for BME (hald-addon-bme) as it was done in Mer (I guess there are few people left, who remember about that project), may be even bringing that free BME to N900. Source of Mer's hald-addon-bme is here

libbme library is now open (BME IPC, not daemon), see gitorious:
http://meego.gitorious.org/meego-dev...on/n900_libbme

we can at least stop BME... and shutdown device manually.

Please send patch for debian/rules which install all your needed headers. I can include it in v48.

I did say this before, for me at least (and likely Darkslayer and vaporesso), the problem is caused by the bt-mice patch introduced with v46. If anyone is interested I can upload my build of v47 minus that specific patch somewhere for anybody who wants test whether that patch causes the same issue for them (I could do with a recommendation of where to upload it). I did intend to do further debugging on the issue, but I've been lazy and the thought of recompiling the kernel with bluetooth debugging patches and reflashing the kernel several more times - when I now have it running just fine - just to run tests didn't appeal much to me, but I might just set aside some time to do it tomorrow.

Sorry, maybe I miss your post. If you are sure that this patch broke bluetooth audio I can disable it in v48.

If you can, provide kernel binaries without this patch. Now building kernel-power from my git repository is broken, so I cannot compile kernel-power. I'm trying to fix it now.

only reason I asked for you to work on it in this thread was you said "whats next?" and suggested the portrait desktop in this thread

Disabling it will result in broken bt-mice support in kernel. Lets retsaw make logs with and without bt-mice patch, so we can find what the real issue is, as he is the only one so far having this problem. And there is a pile of patches around web for BT handsfree devices (esp Motorolla ones) so I suspect the above mentioned patch just triggers another bug without being the root cause.

EDIT:
@retsaw - will you please point to posts where those two mentioned in your post guys are saying that they have exactly the same problem.

Darkslayer's description of his problem in this post is very similar to my problem and from his later posts I think he may have actually upgraded from v45 to v47, rather than v46 to v47. In this post vaporeso describes his problem as being like Darkslayer's and that he has had it since v46.
