It is in the maemo-hackers repository, and they're lagging behind...
I was trying to find mh-shot. Thanks, qole.

The nice thing about mh-shot over load-applet is that it captures screen rotation just fine. I've had issues with load-applet capturing portrait (landscape only), whereas mh-shot handled both portrait and landscape with ease.

Have any of the N810WE owners got slide-rotate and xrandr working? I haven't yet on mine.

Be careful hacking your N810WE until you're sure you can flash the firmware! They're saying that it is fixed now, but if you bork your tablet trying to install rotation, you want to be sure you can reflash...

That's a lesson I've already learned all too well, the HARD way.

I didn't want to return my N810WE to Nokia or to AndySchism for replacement, so I learned how to recover/rebuild the N810WE firmware:...hopefully, by now, Nokia has fixed their Setup/Upgrade Wizard, but at the time, there was no Windows software to rebuild the N810WE and finding the N810WE firmware was very obscure.

I've been hesitant with kernel patches, xrender, and dev pkgs since. Until I see another N810WE owner, I'm a little more cautious with the N810WE than I was with my N810.

UPDATE: The hsetroot tool is a very nice command-line background image setter.

The following scripts, with qwerty12's packages installed in maemo, hsetroot installed in Easy Debian, and your background set to plain black, sets the desktop background to the image you supply as a parameter, and then lightens it enough to offset the transparent black background. Yes, I kill xcompmgr; all we want is transparency.

You set the initial image with startback and change the image with setback.

script name: /usr/bin/setback
Code:
debbie hsetroot -center $1 -brightness .1
script name: /usr/bin/startback
Code:
killall xcompmgr
xcompmgr &
transset-df -i 0x00c00003 --inc 1
transset-df -i 0x00c000af --inc 1
transset-df -i 0x00c00003 --dec .75
transset-df -i 0x00c000af --dec .75
setback $1
e.g.

Code:
startback /media/mmc1/wallpaper/lonesomehouse_800x480.jpg
finally, the screenshot.

Brilliant work qole!

I've compiled hsetroot for diablo and uploaded it to the same place.

Now someone needs to add image directories, timed background changes, a gui front end, and then package this all up

Hehehe, I don't know how to use alarmd properly, I don't know any programming language (except a bit I do know which I use to hildonize programs :P) and packaging; I'm ok with that though

Any volunteers?

ciroip: You should link to your theme thread so people know what that is! Your very-cool 3D-Mania theme...

Oh, thank you for the suggestion. I just wanted show the onscreen keyboards layout: the 'source' png (8000x800) is avaible here:

I was just preparing the black and white theme version to make a more complete post with both the keyboards
