echo 10 > /proc/sys/vm/vfs_cache_pressure

for permanent make a startup script in /etc/event.d with above command
or use swappolube and it will make the script and put it for you

i've done the scripts (installed property) and reinstalled the latest one numerous times with the vfs cache set to 10 as well.

and it has shown many signs of hildon-home crashing... too many times... looks like it didn't work smoothly like some have claimed.only when running NOTHING but this one browser is the phone showing proper/acceptable responsiveness.. at the most maybe 2 active windows and that's it. if go online with my IM accounts or open more browsers.... kuku
hildon-home crashing means you have some widget which is corrupt and is responsible for the crash. try to identify it and you should be all set... try by removing all widget and see if crash occurs, if not put widget which you require one by one and keep checking. the moment you hit the bad widget it should crash your hildon-home and you know the culprit.

Sorry for negative comments above, but that is my experience

KP46 250-900, swap on micro SD card, IO scheduler tweaks, swappiness 30.
hey freemangordon, did the patch worked for you?
the patch had same effect on my device too so i removed
without patch it is working fine.
did you find out what was the problem?
or some devices have conflict with the patch?

IMO i think that the N900s having this problems
got swap tricks or some conflicting system based files
so i think you should reflash your device and start fresh with the patch

PS: I and many other members doesn't have any problemsd
believe me
this script and these tweaks made my n900 paradise

Can someone post some recommended values for swappolube ? I mean, values that can complement this patch and get even better performance.

have you downloaded swappolube yet? i'm using the proposed vales with karam's script right now. i'm not sure if this is the best but it sure is snappy.

@vetsin yes, I've been using it for a while now, with proposed values. I just liked to know if there are some values that, now that we have this patch, can be tuned to work better with it :-)

sorry, my mistake...
I forgot sysctl is from enhanced busybox.

Also, typo in forgetting the /vm/ part.
Anyways, echo works too.

Thanks!
