only if they have the sim for that network which unlocks the algorythm (key) to allow access to use the bandwidth. you cannot, per say, use tmobile for phone and att for data without changing the sim...at least here in the US.

Yea, thought I'd just put it out there. You could also try and catch the order with Negri which does c.c/google/amazon checkouts and have plenty of reviews. My N9 should be arriving here in Canada in ~1-2 weeks.

Because it is much easier to avoid fraud / make the barriers higher for "customers" for them as the seller if they insist on wire/bank transfer for foreigners instead of accepting CC data. Remember, it's not only about you, but also protecting them.

Second one looks cheaper but might actually be better since it includes both sides controllers and is a thumbpad.

Please stop this bs. HSPA+ is certainly not 4G. It is 3G technology. Even LTE is actually more of a 3G tech.

Here is a quote for you from Wikipedia:

the UMTS system, first offered in 2001, standardized by 3GPP, used primarily in Europe, Japan, China (however with a different radio interface) and other regions predominated by GSM 2G system infrastructure. The cell phones are typically UMTS and GSM hybrids. Several radio interfaces are offered, sharing the same infrastructure:
The original and most widespread radio interface is called W-CDMA.
The TD-SCDMA radio interface was commercialised in 2009 and is only offered in China.
The latest UMTS release, HSPA+, can provide peak data rates up to 56 Mbit/s in the downlink in theory (28 Mbit/s in existing services) and 22 Mbit/s in the uplink.
And yes so you can theoretically get around 8 Mbit/s but that kind of speeds really are uncommon even here in Espoo with good HSPA+ coverage.

Useless network upgrade if you ask me.

By the way, for fellow canadians, I believe SNTraders would be one of the sources to go to... The question is When? This is the only answer I got from them:

i can get my friend to buy one from australia for me..but if the phone has problems, i would have to send it back to my friend for them to fix it.

I checked out Negri Electronics and the CSR told me that if there's issues, i would have to send it back to them and they will send it to Nokia.

I really want the phone but $700 is pretty steep considering an unlocked iphone4 is $650 and SGSII is $550ish.

Do you guys think the N9 price will be lowered after 1-2 months? and when will reviews start showing up from gsmarena, gizmodo, phonearena, etc?

Prices won't drop drastically but remember these are early adopter prices anyway. You won't see unlocked prices for iphones dropping anytime soon, but N9 prices will eventually drop. I could see these a little lower come December. That may be when I will jump on one. I won't pay $700 either.

As for reviews, since it's releasing over these weeks you can expect gsmarena, phonearena, etc to get reviews up soon. As for gizmodo, I don't expect them to review it. They didn't like it when it was announced and all they really care about from Nokia is Mango. Engadget seems to favor the N9 though so they will have a review up some time this month once someone gets a hold of one.

My uncle is passing through UAE on a trip this month so I'm debating on making him pick one up for me. Need to find out the pricing.
