Im goint to wait until I speak to someone at the NFS store Thurs night before deciding whether to cancel my MPD order. Im really in two minds as the t-mobile deal was so good, but Im reaching the point where Im losing faith with MPD

Will post here once I have spoken to them with my findings.
Its just a shame that it is Vodafone as it will cost alot more

Well, I've just been on a webchat and the person on the other end reckoned I'm in a queue with the "retail team" when they were helping with high customer loads and I don't have an order number as I'd requested an upgrade on my Vodafone contract which they couldn't do until they're in stock...then the chat died before I could get more detail.

Sound feasible? I'm hoping my local Nokia store gets some in stock on the first delivery for walk-ins (they said they would), then I'll just pop down for upgrade, maybe??
Not a prob and good luck with whichever option you choose - i look forward tohearing your opinions on the device when you get it
With regards to ordering from anywhere, you should be able to log in and see your order after it has been placed, even with Nokia/MPD/CPW/ etc etc.... So don't take a waiting list place as an order anywhere

The MPD webchat system is very flakey, so a phone call is better if you can't do it on the internet. My personal opinion, which may differ from other rumours is.....

any orders placed with nokia uk now, will probably get to you in about 1-2weeks, as it sounds like they may have stock back in. But these are sim free.

An order placed in the flagship store should see you with your device in a week or under maybe.

MPD orders placed now, may just see you with your device before xmas if lucky

OHGODDAMMIT...I managed to get through on the phone to the same girl I was talking to on the webchat- turns out the list I'm on will be fulfilled AFTER the weborders, which is contrary to what I was told at the time. Great, thanks MPD!

Back of the queue it is then- doesn't look like stores are going to have walk-in stock either according to her (I'll still call my local shop to see though).

What's my alternative to get it quicker...do NFS do new contracts? Could I just go in to the London store when they have walk-in stock (any idea when that is due to be?) and then port my number to a PAYG sim on another network, then back to that new Vodafone contract to keep it?

I'm miffed

NFS do do new contracts, via mpd i think, i'm a bit confused with the stries on here, and i'm not sure if people have or have not successfully received their devices by walking in to the store and requesting a contratc. Would be useful to get a definitive answer on this one.

edit : Wow i really can't spell or type!

Just cancelled my MPD pre-order via phone. I've got no confidence in the platform going forwards after this much fumbling by Nokia and partners. I'll wait a while, perhaps get one when they're cheaper and in the shops.

One more open slot in the queue for everyone else!

I have every confidence in Nokia producing and developing a platform. I just have zero confidence in their supply and delivery chain.

Yay to the extra slot...

poo poo to nokia loosing another customer at this stage of the game (Don't care about mpd loosing another customer!)

It's an interesting place here, as nokia employees do read it - but mainly developers and product peoples i assume, Peter doesn't by the looks of it feedback anything - well at least not to the customer.... I really do wonder if anyone senior enough in Nokia knows anything about the failed n900 saga?!

Cheers! I might have to give NFS Regent St a call then, clarify when they expect walk-in stock and if they'll do any decent new Vodafone contracts, maybe even upgrades? (And if they're likely to have any phones left on Saturday, otherwise that'll be a long wasted trip from Swindon!)

I don't suppose they'll be likely take a phone order and post it out?! hah

Surely they must do...I mean, they are ones ultimately making and shipping these products and they must know if stock is or isn't getting the retailers/customers...or at least that's why I thought until this whole Nokia/MPD debacle started.

This must be hurting MPD now judging by the number of cancellations announced on this forum (yay to that I say - both because it moves me up the queue and also hurts MPDs profit ). Bloody shambolic organisation though..shame it's the only damn way I can get the N900 on a contract with T-mobile.
