You'd think, but I wonder if they'll use a different PowerVR chipset - possible or if they will deliver the MeeGo Community Edition sans Adobe Flash Player like the OS2007HE and OS2008HE editions.

That little tidbit was left out until it was given to the community and then figured it out.

I agree, going from 770 to N8x0 is quite different. But if any other surprises come about, the reason there will be no official MeeGo support is restrictive screen versus capacitive and who knows what else, due to hardware choices and why the Flash Player won't work - just won't be a surprise for me.

I assume that not all is known yet, thus the non-announcements.

So have I. We all pretty much know it's possible, Adobe showed us that back in October during their Adobe MAX conference.

However, the buck has been passed between Adobe and Nokia about who's responsible for it over and over to the point where doubt that it will happen on the N900 - despite being seen in the past, been seen running via Google Froyo 2.2 beta.

Is there a way to obtain the flash library files from amazon marketplace using an Android handset? I tried it with the emulator, but the marketplace was disabled on it.

@noipv4
Froyo binary flash plugin will not work in microb or firefox. Tested that right away when they released it
Must be because of system api calls...

.apk files are zipped files. You can extract them. Inside there is a libflashplayer.so file which obviously is the plugin. Don't waste your time copying it over to N900, it doesn't work Been there done that.

EDIT: Must be put here, if anyone wants to try it: /usr/lib/browser/plugins

The problem is that the Android libflashplayer.so plugin depends on all sorts of libraries from Android to run. Even when you copy all of the libraries over, the plugin just makes the browser segfault, because the Android libraries aren't really designed for Maemo.

Someone has to make dummy libraries that point to the correct places. It is a task for someone who can look at the Android source code for libraries such as libc.so and libEGL.so and make them work on the N900.

(EDIT: Stskeeps did this for the Maemo libflashplayer.so to make it run under Debian...)

I think i made this point earlier....

Adobe demonstrated the latest version of flash ON A N900.

whytf can't we just get the "beta" version they used on the demo?

they seem happy to release beta stuff when it suits them....

I'm happy to give a donation of a few ££££ to anyone who can get a plug in running. At this point, having emailed both several times, f**k Nokia and f**k Adobe x 1,000. I'd rather give a developer my money. Screw this, neither of them appear any better than Apple right now.
