While I don't have real percentages, it appears PR1.3 improved N900 battery life significantly (I've forgotten to charge at night a couple of times, and that wasn't the problem it was with PR1.2). So I'm sure similar could be achieved in Android with some focus on the issue...

Anyone see that Sears is offering a 10" tablet this weekend? Viewsonic G-Tablet.

According to Sears, it's a Tegra 2 cpu, Android 2.2, 1024x600, HDMI, usb, 1GB ram, 16gb storage, bluetooth, wifi n. No 3G, GPS. $379 ($399 regular).

Early reviews indicated it had an atom cpu nd would dual boot Win7 / Android 1.6. This may be a special North American version.

Sounds very tempting if it really is a tegra 2 / 2.2. Any thought since you guys seem to be watching tablets closely?

Link? I don't see "G-Tablet" but assuming you are talking about this or some previous version:

I think they have a mistake. The viewpad is hitting the market now in various forms and definitely uses the Intel atom. Intel 1.66 is in the product description. NVIDIA Tegra 2 is a mistake I think, and also HDMI.

That's the one I'm talking about. But, according to engadget there should be one around $429 (september price) out. Don't know which one Sears has, but it m6 be worth a look.

I don't think the G-Tablet would be launched at Sears without some marketing.

I plan to look at elocity A7 when it hits the stores in a few weeks and if there is any other tablet with tegra 2 and HDMI around then, I'll look at it too.

Is anyone interested in the Archos 101? It looks wonderful and cheap too. A tablet only not a phone.

For scale in the hand

Archos

Prices

If it is worth discussing then maybe someone would like to start a new thread so as not to hijack this one?

For that price it looks very good. Only problem is the lack of andrid market. If there was a guarantee of a hack to load the market on it I think I would get the 7 inch version (although I think I heard that the 7 inch version is resistive which would make it a definite no go for me).

EDIT: Just checked and the 7 inch version is capacitive. But is only 800x480 resolution so probably not ideal for such a big screen.

A 10 inch Android tablet makes no sense to me. I prefer the 7 inch size anyway since it's mobile (for me) and resistive doesn't bother me.

Seems that the Tab is the tablet to beat, so I don't think it hurts to point out some competition. Although, if there is interest in a particular tablet, it should probably have it's own thread.

On a Tab related note, looks like it is now available for pre-order on amazon for T-Mobile for $700, although acording to this, you can get it for $400 on contract.

Sounds like the best price so far.

Agree completely. Unfortunately the only 7 inch android (apart from the archos one which has a resolution which is too low) is waaaaaay tooooo expensive. I am now considering getting the 10 inch archos for the wife (apparently it is very easy to get the android market on it - just download something called market4archos). She can use it for what she uses her laptop for now - going on facebook, viewing facebook photos, reading Daily Mail website. Then when the Tab has a sensible price or there is another high quality 7 inch android which is reasonably priced I may get it for myself.
