Maybe Omega is just a guy hired by Nokia to keep us entertained until the arrival of the next device....

I was considering an iPhone 16 GB, after the latest OS announcement as well as jailbreaking it to install stuff that Apple wouldn't let me install that I want on a mobile device [e.g. SSH for example]. But the monthly plan costs had me going

JayOnThaBeat: http://internettablettalk.com/forums...ad.php?t=27924 One can only assume he sold it. At the very least, he's trying to sell it...

Honestly? At this point, I think this thread needs closed. Omega obviously won't listen to any help people try to give him, so this thread should stop here. There's no point in encouraging this behavior by leaving the thread open.

I think you might be confusing them with this ambitious person. But no, I didn't say they had sold it. I said they were trying to sell it.

he would have been better off just posting the sale and not complaining.

i agree with closing this out, but i would suggest someone (not me, a lowly junior member ) notating on the sale ad that the unit may be defective.

no need someone else falling victim.

As much as I hate to admit it and perpetuate it, troll threads are kind of fun to read. That is essentially why posters like Omega do what they do, because it is entertaining for a while for them and for others. I bought the tablet to read the internet when I was in bed because I didn't like the qvga 2.2 inch screen on my mobile phone and my laptop was too big. I got the N800 before the netbook craze really took off which arguably would have been a better fit for in bed reading.
In the couple of years of ownership I have found out a few things in no particular order
-I have discovered what open source really means and why it is so difficult for headway to be achieved
- learned about ebooks and how convenient they are
- seen the true game changing potential of Linux
- brought internet radio into my lounge
- video conferenced for free from a backpackers lodge in Kenya to my wonderful fiancee in NY.
- numbed my brain by watching too many youtube clips on the subway ride to work
- become addicted to gps and geotracking in general because of Maemo Mapper. The gps is not very sensitive but it works decently well (I get a lock outside in NYC in about 1-2 minutes) My N78 gets a lock in about 20 seconds.
- Oh and I also read the internet in bed.

Therefore Mr. Omega in my world the N810 is not totally useless thanks for telling me how I should feel, but unfortunately you are incorrect.

I'm really unfashionably late to this party and all I can say is I don't share the same opinion as Omega and find my N810 invaluable in my daily life. I haven't had an issue with upgrades and app downloads plus any quirks I've had have been solved here by everyone's help. I haven't had an issue with the GPS lock after installing agp-s. A few minutes is the worst I've came across and I use the Nokia LD-3W bluetooth gps also as a backup. Since the latest Nokia OS upgrade, I find the UI quite snappy and turning off javascript and flash keeps browser speeds quite acceptable IMHO. I enjoy playing games like Quake and open tyrian on it, I watched the sitcom two and a half men last night using the hava player connected to my cable DVR recorder. I've got 55 movies, 40 TV shows on it, 400 songs, 30 E-Books ( Three 8GB mini cards) and three batteries to keep it all running. I use skype; I use abiword for word processing. I sync my GPE Calendar with my google calendar. I was looking up an old Monkees song through mytube this morning and I've also downloaded bittorrent divx movies onto a flash memory card, connected it through USB control and a cable and played the Divx movies directly using mplayer with really good quality and without having to convert them. I'm also going to the U.K in the next few months and rather than having to bring another GPS unit with me, the Nokia HH-12 car mount holder along with the N810 will serve it's GPS purpose while I'm there.

To me, it's the ultimate mini-computer. I'm being entertained, I've got access to my cable box and DVR recordings on the road, I've got it set up as a decent PDA, I've got GPS for U.S and Europe, I've got games, I've converted my e-books for FBreader and I'm getting good battery life. What the hell more can I ask for? I've got faster computing power in my Dell M1330 when needed, but even something like a netbook is too big to carry around everywhere, so having an all in one pocketable device is nirvana to me.

Bottom line is; I just don't relate to Omega's comments and find the N810 a great companion, very usable in the real world, and when I don't have it close to me, it's like having an itch I can't scratch.
