For me, the introductions of the iphone and the itouch were the best external events that could have happened to this community. They just about gaurentee low prices for used n800s and n810s. But maybe it will all be for naught if Texrat's teasings deliver. And since my n800 is still kickin' there's plenty for me to do in the meantime. Things around iTT seam solid and the whiner(s) in this thread should start to fade into the background.

And now for my closing to the whiner(s) inspired by Mr. Pot-calling-the-kettle-black:

THE NOKIA INTERNET TABLETS HAVE BEEN AND WILL CONTINUE TO BE A HUGE SUCCESS. SO JUST SIT BACK, BE QUIET, AND ENJOY.

I don't agree that using all-caps "excessively" is a clear violation of Internet custom. All caps is, after all, just another form of italics. People who put entire messages in caps are not only being dumb, they are too lazy to pepper messages with selective caps. The people who drive us crazy are the people who put EVERY MESSAGE in caps.

(Putting a whole message in italics would be just as dumb and rude, but no one ever bothers. For one thing, people who put entire messages in caps probably don't know what italics IS.)

Would you carry even 3 or 8 devices? Do you reserve 1 pocket (with some sort of divider built in) or 2 pockets? What about the other stuff in the pockets given the non scratch resistant covers and display surfaces of NITs and (most) phones? I need the ultimate answer...
OK, I'd not realized your initial comment was serious.

I always carry the N800 in one pocket, and a cheap phone in another; I don't even have tethering (yet), as I'm mainly on University WiFi with the tablet. That'll be changing as I've just got an apartment, and need to get access there (and between).

So, my current loadout: (Items in bold are every day.)

Image thumbnails courtesy of Google image search and their respective hosting sites.
Human hands (and thumbnails, where present) courtesy of The Internet, where available. (i.e. None of them are mine.)

Left front:
  • In pocket
    • ~$35 (paper)
    • ~$2 (coins)
    • ~$5 more (coins)
    • ~10 keys on keyring
    • Deluo BT GPS

    • iogear gearjuice battery and cable with Nokia tip (same tip for charging N800 and for charging gearjuice).

    • N800 in factory sock
Right front:
  • In pocket
    • 6" scale
    • 4" crescent wrench
    • 6" vise-grip toolbox

    • 2.8" blade lockback
    • Gyration GyroTransport 1GB airmouse
  • Clipped on edge
    • 3.7" blade linerlock
  • Watch pocket
    • Moto PEBL U6

    • USB flash drive + OTG adapter

    • Plantronics 220 headset
Left hip:
  • In pocket
    • $160 (paper)
    • AR in-ears

    • iGo stowaway (w/o device stand)
Right hip:
  • In pocket
    • Wallet
  • On belt
    • Kodak EasyShare Z1275

In conclusion, yeah, I'm more on the 3-to-8 end of things. I'm looking at obtaining some sort of holster/sling/whatever for offloading some of the peripherals, and adding my OTG goodie bag and maybe Eee 701, on occasion, but right now they hang out in my laptop bag, which is almost never farther away than my office/car.

another option is one of them outdoors/photographers vests. now your talking pockets

mostly i see this as a issue of culture/social vs practical.

same really as with wearing bluetooth handsfree on the street (but if they are designed as oversized skullcandy headsets it would be fine, go fig)...

and yes, i do own and use one of those urbantool basicholsters.
That eholster option looks quite attractive; only problem is it doesn't look like they have any Eee701-compatible pouches. You know if one would fit in the basicholster? It's 6.5" x 9" x 1", not counting the battery bulge (~0.3" thicker, but should be no problem in a soft pouch). I'd like the ability to tote it on occasion.

nope, but toughtfix found that it would fit in the slotbar...
http://www.urbantool.com/hq/slotbar

i think he also tested some other stuff, like a scaled up version of the hipholster.
http://www.ultramobilegeek.com/2008/...lster-for.html

oops, i see now that he said the grabit pack didnt fint his 7" devices (most likely talking about the eeepc).

been a while since i have read that so...

hmm, i also bumped into something on the australian page for urbantool that made me suspect that they will be coming out with a version of the basicholster that has more pockets. not larger ones tho, just more of them...

I'm so very tired of the NIT v. iPhone arguments. Different platforms entirely. Might as well be comparing the Apple iPhone to the linksys/cisco iphone they took the name from. Or why not compare a rock to a slice of bread. Yes the iPhone and the NIT do some similar things, but they are entirely different platforms. I'm going to vomit unicorns and rainbows if I see another one of these threads.

yep, a more correct comparison will be the ipod touch.

but thats more or less a iphone without the gsm/umts and bluetooth radios.

hell, i sometimes suspect that they had the ipod touch in the works and then added the gsm radio to it later on...

Ok, can someone post N800 sale numbers? This product supposedly ended his active life so as part of "post mortem" ?
