Just to share (and hang my head in shame): I got my n810 2 days ago, and left the factory protector on there just to wait for my proper one to arrive; after getting notified that it will be a few more days I got aggravated at the sticker and tried removing it (leaving the protector in place) and just turned it into one big mess. In the end the screen protector is off, I have a small splotch of sticky sticker goop on the metal by the Menu/Back buttons, and a few very fine specks of the crap on the screen itself.

So, anyone have any recommendations in regards to how to clean the screen itself?

Use a fluid that's approved for cleaning a computer monitor. Apply a VERY small amount and use a paper towel to clean it.

Then, use a microfiber cloth to wipe away any residue once it's dry

For the sticky goop on the metal, you can probably use whatever you want.
