"They will if you set up that the dog is evil. All you do is have to show him doing this. :shifts eyes left to right: The people will suspect the dog." Dog, Raccoon... same principles apply ;-)

Arch the eyeball? Not sure what you mean? Like an eye brow kinda thing? Or the whites of his eye? I presume you mean the one in the a and not the one in e, right?

Not the brow-- that's already done. raise the white of the eye itself, so that one eye shows heightened interest and the other a skeptical squint. Like Dr McCoy in Star Trek.

And yes the "a", which is what I meant by "our left".

You're right, pretty much every animal (and even some non-existent ones like dragons) are already being used by someone.

Maybe we shouldn't use an animal?

Or maybe Penguinbait's idea of a variation on the Linux penguin?

What are people's thoughts?
Well, the logo is already part of branding. So maybe it could be that or simply the 'ae'.

I like penguinbait's submission and animals but then I miss some kind of embedded device (does not need to look exactly like the tablet) in its hands. Something which connects the mascot with the purpose. It isn't mandatory, but to me that feels neat.

Simple: put a tablet in the catoonowl's paws/wings.

O wait--

I don't think a logo featuring a particular device is a good idea because we have no idea what kind of devices Maemo will end up in, and indeed it may end up in many kinds of devices simultaneously.

Symbian for example has had every form-factor under the sun:

-Vertical Monoblock/candybar (eg 5800)
-Horizontal Monoblock/candybar (eg 7710)
-Slider (eg N95)
-Side-slider (eg E75)
-Keypad clamshell (eg 6290)
-QWERTY clamshell (eg E90)
-Camcorder-style multi-angle twister (eg N93)
-Half-twister (eg 5700)
-Game Boy style games console (eg N-gage)
-iPod style music player (eg N91)

...and even within a single form factor there are many design variations.

Whaaa, Stup', each time you make a change it's better and better !
You're good !!!

And ... do you think you could try to reduce the black shape on the face to make it just like a mask, bigger than the ae logo but not covering all the face ?
