Yep, that is how to do it, but it is not officially supported, and it does give some errors. i.e. my contacts only sync down, and there is a constant "cannot connect to server" error for some people.

Hopefully the demand is there enough that the maemo guys find a way to get it working.

I works with the free account both ways, but only contacts

I've been succcessful getting this to work with a vanilla gmail account (e.g. fred@gmail.com), but I can't get it to work with my Google Apps account (fred@mycorp.com). Gets an authentication error (sorry didn't capture the exact text).

Anyone had any success with this?

UPDATE: With Google Apps accounts you have to enable MfE in your GA Mail settings - then it works.

Thanks so much for the NuevaSync tip guys !
I've added it to the wiki ( http://wiki.maemo.org/Sync#Synchronising_with_Google )

Now I am more confident that I want to buy the N900 ... just need to find it at a good price ... like 450E max in France/Paris

I also use Nuevasync (free account) to sync with my google-calendar. It works really good. Too bad that is merges all calendar into one... Is anything heard about when they want to support / implement multi-calendar-support for Maemo/N900? Or is that just impossible?

there is also a possibility to directly use the MfE system delivered with the N900; this solution worked well for me concerning calendars

see http://www.google.com/support/forum/...8dea5ed7&hl=en for details

It's not officially supported and not reliable. If you have contacts with saved birthday information you may notice that those are not synced properly (+/- 2 days difference!)

Yea, multi sync would be perfect, other than though it has been working great. Is there a benefit of MfE over iMap for email though?

afaik MfE only supports one calendar. So the only solution for now is using categories, is this supported? I have asked vitaly_repin about support for syncing multiple calendars and he answered, that his has no priority... Obviously many people actually only use *one single* calendar.
