Ok, extras-devel has the 0.5 version for N900 only. Not tested yet.

There is a 0.4 release for ramzez, but only on my computer though, it is an older release for the N900 (before I even got one ).

And btw I made the 0.5 release so that it uses the backing swap of the N900. This crashes miserably with a reboot while testing on the N900. But when I disable the backing swap feature and turn off the swap (/dev/mmcblk0p3) on the N900, I am unable to open any new apps without a complaint about memory being too low.

Has this happened to any of you?

I'm unclear here: you told us not to install 0.5 because it will "eat our mothers". But you're asking, "has this happened to any of you?" like there are people who've installed this.

The situations you describe sound like Scylla and Charybdis...

Sorry about this, I was just being so very unclear, but tso was correct here . I was just asking is anyone was able to use their N900 without swap.

a couple of things i have experienced after some time of use now.

1. maemo loves to crash all running programs if ram+swap gets maxed out.

2. i can't see any change when using ramzez to change from 10% to anything else, and that ramzez defaults back to 10% rather then showing the current setting used adds to the confusion...

hmm, it would appear that a reboot is needed to apply the ramzez settings change...
