Still haven't installed PR 1.2

I must be the least needy n900 user on the planet...

Personally, I didn't need to upgrade to PR1.2 either, and my battery life has taken a nosedive since I did, but I have to support an app in Extras that was reported as seriously broken after the upgrade...

Thanks for the reply. Just to make sure before I go on to install the packages you mentioned, with these installed in my N900, I'll be able to compile and make programs in GTK+/C for maemo in the device without having to chroot? What about the nokia-binaries?

Trying to follow instructions in Tigerite's post above...I get the following error message on this step:

Code:
# 7z x /home/user/MyDocs/maemo-sdk-rootstrap_5.0_10.2010.19-1_armel.tgz -o /floppy
/usr/bin/7z: exec: line 2: /usr/lib/p7zip/7z: Too many levels of symbolic links
Any suggestions??

Thanks!

Your 7z installation is broken. Re-install it and see if it gets better.

I was trying to help out in another thread with the exact same error and while investigating, we found out that something, or someone, had changed the symbolic links that are used by 7z.

Thank you, Joorin....

Tried removing and reinstalling 7z, but now I get another error message:

Code:
# 7z x /home/user/MyDocs/maemo-sdk-rootstrap_5.0_10.2010.19-1_armel.tgz -o /floppy

Error:
Incorrect command line

Then, perhaps, you need to check the command line. That looks like an error from 7z so something might have changed in the version you installed.

OK, finally got 7z to work by cd'g to /floppy and then extracting file...

Now, I have problem with downloading 'nokia-binaries' per Tigerite's instructions:

Code:
echo "deb http://repository.maemo.org/ fremantle/xxxxx nokia-binaries" >> etc/apt/sources.list
qumount /floppy
mkdir /sdk
qchroot /home/user/MyDocs/maemo-sdk-v1_2.img.ext2 /sdk
apt-get update
apt-get install nokia-binaries

E: Couldn't find package nokia-binaries

FYI, 'xxxxx' represents the token code number I got from Nokia webpage...I went to page on my laptop and copied number into the terminal line above on my N900...

Any suggestions?
