Warning: not for the faint of heart, involves software from extras-devel, can screw your device etc. etc.
For this to work on your N900 you must install the maemo-geolocation browser extension currently only on extras-devel.
Then load the current version of maeMaps.
The browser will now ask you if it might access your location provider:
It then takes a few seconds (5-20) to get your current location (on first runs, it might take even longer or at first give unprecise results; simply hit Ctrl-r to reload the page if needed). Once it has obtained a geolocation, this is filled in the "from"-Field and the map is automatically loaded.
Now either play around with the map or enter a destination in the 2nd field and hit enter - the routing will start and show a #-Button once it has finished. Hit it to scroll down to the directions list.
In addition, the parameters that you can optionally pass to the page have been extended, you now can also add e.g. "&mt=road" to set your preferred map type. Just use the maptype name as seen in the pulldown.
Have fun and big thanks to Nokia for the quick delivery of the maemo-geolocation browser extension.
(BTW: the functionality also works in Firefox on Desktops, but accuracy depends on installed geolocation providers. Mine is the default one, about 100km off here)
