If you've followed the instructions and the N900 isn't recognised, the only thing I can suggest is to use a bootable Linux CD and flash it from there.

Hi !!!
Please... could anyone help me to increase the font size for number displayed in contacts?
I have to carry a magnifying glass in my pocket all the time to read the contacts' numbers. (I came to N900 from N97)
And isn't ther some way of displaying contacts as NAME AND NUMBER ?
I'll be very grateful for your help.
Regards,
Raj

I have Linux (Slackware) on my comp. here >http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_t...firmware#Linux< it tells me that i need to install "fiasco image" along with maemo flasher to make it work. Where can I get "fiasco image", I`ve been looking for it all over and its nowhere to be found...

The FIASCO image is the firmware image you should have downloaded (see step 2 of http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_t...ng_your_device)

quick tuturial:
making sure phone is off,
download flasher
install
download firmware
download install.bat
move firmware and install.bat to C:\Program Files\maemo\flasher-3.5
plug usb into computer only
run install
and hold U on the n900 keyboard and plug in usb to n900
should connect then start to install (takes about 90seconds)
boot up your n900

but use your heads as this is my region(Global) and there are 3 different ones, Global, US, Asia
I am on my way to send away my N900 for exchange, want to remove "my " stuff as much as possible.

have D/L the Flasher 3.5 and tried to follow the instructions, http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_tablet_firmware but I am far from a coder so I get a bit scared that I will Brick-it.
have put the two large RX51 folders in the Flasher map/file ( there is map named License where I have not put it)

can somebody copy the EXACT command lines i need to type, as the "Dummy" me do not seem to be able to get it working...so I aborted the flashing last time...

in above description D/L install.bat...have not done that is that the fault the Wiki page do not mention that ?

or do you advice my to keep my hands off ?
Do not feel good sending the device to Nokia with some Confidential biz info on it..

thanks in advance for your help

EDIT: have installed the install file and runned it still no action ?

I'm not sure I follow all of what you've done. You should have downloaded the flasher tool and the two .bin files. Which OS are you running this on? On Windows, you need to install the flasher tool, then copy/move the two .bin files into the Program Files/maemo/flasher-3.5 directory.

@danielo5:
Download the .tar.gz version of the flasher tool. It's for Slackware and other Linux x86-distros that aren't .deb-based. Presumably you know how to install a .tar.gz file on Slackware, but if you don't it's as simple as 'tar maemo_flasher-3.5_2.5.2.2.tar.gz'.
Then follow the instructions on the wiki link. If you follow certain links there you'll find the flasher tool too. At one point you have to provide a code, that's the IMEI code of your device (just the digits).
