I have little concern about N900 being unfinished, AS LONG as Nokia provides similar capability (within reason) to what's elsewhere.

OVI maps is a case in point.

But if they just abandon the N900 users completely and focus entirely on maemo 6/next devices they are loosing hearts/minds of many users first steps to this platform.

That will seal the fate of maemo for me for certain. I'll be out of here and off to android despite the google empire issue.

It is also really nice that you can't access the OVI Maps (from ovi.com) with MicroB...

You people make me laugh.
Stop being a fanboy and drop the lousy attitude. The issue here is that Nokia clearly singles out this device when coming to updates and features - MMS and PC suite support just to name a few.

The fact that it is once again singled out just proves that it is either not ready, has limitations or it has low priority inside Nokia organization - it is a business decision after all...

So see the post as what it is - as i said on my previous post, it is not the maps that worries me - the low interest of Nokia in the platform does. More, with the 5800 they tested the waters of touch and it did not cost the moon. For a device as expensive as the N97 or as a laptop I do expect ALL the features are available.

Have you seen the OVI Maps camera cars driving down your street taking Streetview pics?

If I strongly desired the turn by turn functionality, my solution *today* would be buying an 18 month old TomTom from Ebay and using it for the next 6-9 months until the N900 gets closer to dedicated levels of functionality. I'd then sell the old TomTom at a smallish loss, and then use either the included (free) and upgraded version of Ovi Maps, or spend a bit more to get commercial software. The N900 would stay around for all the non-TomTom functions.
...or get a Symbian device and do it today for free?

So who from Nokia is right? I hope Arshia Varlet statement is correct.
Yeah, because Nokia always makes these official announcements throught the Twitter account of a Indian mobile phone blog

I have 2 (besides the N900), N95 and E75 - all 3 devices shunned by today's announcement!
