Do you foresee the rest of the games that use your engine coming to the N900 soon?

wait sio2 earn all 1.99$ if we pay via their own system. And sio2 earn 70 % of the price of the game if we buy the game via Apple Store for example!

Actually this is interesting that someone realize that. What Im trying to do here is to introduce a new way of payment for small independent developers (like me, since SIO2 is basically a 1 man show).

Since the N900 Apps. distribution process is not closed like on other platform, I'm checking if people can accept this mode of payment. The idea is to put the price lower for customers when dealing with publishers directly...

By putting our Apps. on the OVI Store, Nokia will take 30%, the idea now is to low down the price when customers pass by us while making the same amount of revenue. Right now we are testing the method but, as soon we are on the OVI store all the price of our games will go down if you pass directly by us, and like that we can provide you better games for lower price...

In example:

1.99$ -> OVI Store -> 1.39$ ( -30% )
1.75$ -> by US with Paypal -> 1.38$ ( -0.30$ + 0.40$ )

That's exactly what Im planning to do, give more to the customers at a lower price, Im not greedy, I just want to be able to continue making my 3D engine and create some fun little game...

With this approach I can avoid the "App. Store" syndrome, that basically developers are forgotten into a myriad of let's say "questionable" quality Apps. and like that I can really give better deal to the customers and provide them more games cheaper and get more easily reckon for...

With the process above, it is also more easy to provide customers with updates, extras, add-ons etc… without, every time a minor change is made to the game I have to go through a 2 weeks approval period... and also like that we can also inform customers about new releases, upcoming games etc...

The bound between customers and publishers can be more personalized compare to theses generic store models, that are basically just a question of "mass" and not quality...

With the approach above you got the same thing for less money, that, if you are dealing directly with the publisher. I think that for small independent game studio, getting their name out there is what is the most important...

And in any case, with this approach I think it's a win-win combination for both party...

Im currently modifying the Apps. following the 40 pages PDF guidelines that Nokia send me, and preparing the necessary PPT presentation to be able to get theses 2 Apps. on the OVI Store (yes its is really a pain to get on the OVI Store and does it worth it? I don't know yet...)

As I said, at the moment Im testing different direction with the platform, as it is basically new, and will determine which way is the most beneficial both of us...

Im pretty sure that alot of indie. developers out there would back me up on this one... Im basically alone working on SIO2 and it is my only source of revenue, on top of that I got a family to feed, my only hope is the take it to the next level, and Im sure that Im not the only one in that situation so... In the meantime if you want to encourage the SIO2 project:

I buy football frenzy too, but I find it directly in the Application Manager.
Just another suggestion. In the description of the game, write something like "(need to be activated for $1.99)", because I knew it, but maybe someone else find it there and if he doesn't check from which repository it's coming, he go on paypal without knowing why

I've just purchased both your games and i'm really chuffed that the process went smoothly. The games are very good and i'm enjoying my n900 a little bit more now
Do you have an ETA on when your planning to port some more games?

At the moment Im focusing on adjusting the 2 games to fit the N900 QA test in order to gain maximum exposure through the OVI store. Then depending on the response I will focus on the "official" engine port so all SIO2 user can port their games on the device, and focusing on creating/porting other stuff that I have on the device...

You should be able to update the version of the 2 games pretty quick through my repository really soon... check it out

Cheers,
