Thanks. I had Orrery as well. I'm not into stargazing or something. But just wanted to have an app stand by in case my 6 year old starts asking about stars. And I thought it was interesting. Just don't understand how to use them.

HI
I had to re-flash over weekend and was expecting to reload stellarium form the ovi store - but this morning its now listed as not available.
I use this often when star gazing as its easier than carrying my laptop - where can I get a copy ( have already paid the 3 quid to for the first download but would happy pay it again to the developers that is .)
cheers

There was a version in the repos for a while, not sure if it's still there.
It was a straight port from the Linux version so it wasn't hildonised.

Other than that the only other suggestion is to contact Nokia and say "OI ELOP!!!! Where's Stellarium and my £3?"*

*or something similar to that.

Does anybody know, what happend to stellarium mobile?
At the moment my N900 is at Nokia for repair (the legendary USB-Port problem)
Now I fear that they don't repair but replace it and with this exchange my beloved stellarium is gone.http://forums.internettablettalk.com...milies/mad.gif

thanks for speedy reply - did think of calling nokia of this but seeing as they are in enough of a pickle with the depending windows horror...
have looked on repos but couldn't find it.
you say it a straight port of the linux version - ie I should be able to download the standard tar ball and expand it.
( if so could you point me to a good tutorial as bit new to this )

I'm not gonna be much good where the tutorial is concerned. I'm a bit green myself . Overclocking and changing the "Swipe to unlock" screen was enough to make my a***hole pout

But I've found this link for you: http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...rium/0.10.5-2/.
Hope it helps you on your way.

have loaded the deb armel file - and got it running ( as taken from link)
but this is the full version which is difficult for me at last to use on the n900's screen - not the mobile friendly version which was on ovi store.
does anyone have this or know where it can be got?
thanks

found this
http://stellarium-mobile.org/?page_id=3

there is a mobile-gui file there which looks to be for maemo5 . does this help?

just got this from nokia

"Thank you for contacting Nokia Care.
In response to your concern, please be advised that the Stellarium application for the Nokia N900 has already been pulled-out by the software developer. May we suggest that you visit the site of the developer of the said application."

I did say it was the non-hildonised version, but it does work reasonably well if you can figure out the keyboard shortcuts.

Cursor/Arrow keys pan around the sky. Holding shift key will pan slower.

Tap screen to select an object and space bar to centre on the object.

Ctrl+up/down arrow keys to zoom in and out.

Hold the stylus just inside the bottom right of the screen and then swipe it off the screen diagonally to get the bottom and side bars to show. All functions and settings panels can be accessed there.

It takes a bit of getting used to but it all comes together with practice.

Not sure why the author pulled it, (maybe the same thing happened there as did with Instinctiv Media Player). This is his home page: http://stellarium.org/. See if there's an email address there.

Not sure what that mobile-gui does but I've downloaded it and I'll check it out.

It probably has to do with Fabien's reaction to the Nokia-Microsoft agreement. What happened with Instinctiv Media Player?

It's the source code of the GUI plug-in that provides the features of the mobile version. AFAIK, you need to download the mainline Stellarium source, modify a few lines to make it use the mobile GUI instead of the default desktop GUI, and compile it with a special parameter. Resource files (GUI and nebula textures, etc.) may need to be converted to a specific format, too.
