Most of these problems are rather made by purpose:

No custom ringtones
Limited third-party apps availability

We know the reason ($).

No Bluetooth file transfers

It's prohibited in Saudi Arabia.

No copy/paste
No USB mass storage mode

To prevent pirating (Again $)

Too dependent on Zune software for file management and syncing
No DivX/XviD video support (automatic transcoding provided by Zune software)

Just like apple,MS wants a complete overtake of the media format(Apple says:My Quicktime format is better and MS says:No,my WMV format is better!) (Both fame and $)

No Flash support in the browser

For security reasons.

No multitasking

Only this one is technical I think. You know, Windows was a heavy program since old days. And multitasking will further slow it down.

No Silverlight support and video calls
No internet tethering support

These are technical too. MS may handle them soon, but not for free (Again $)

No sign of free Bing maps Navigation so far

There are lots of navigation softwares in the catalog, but most of them are not free(And again $)
Just my opinion.Don't take it too serious.

So, I guess this means that the N900 will remain the only true open phone. I just hope the community will keep on supporting maemo5.

Ok so in short:
Symbian exists for the lower market
Meego will get Maemo's "Ugly duckling status"
WinPhone7 is the top tier.

With this Nokia has guaranteed I ain't buying from them again. I'm not going to buy the next Meego phone knowing it'll be the unsupported ugly duckling my N900 is, and I sure as hell ain't buying a Windows Phone.

That's what MS wants Nokia to think.

As I've said before, industry experts are saying that in approximately 4 years mobile processors will have the same processing power as today's low-mid range desktops.

Except by then the desktop would've moved on and you probably wouldn't want to be running the desktop of 4 years ago on your shiny new phone.

Other companies put WP7 on their phones and no one screamed that companies like HTC or Dell were going to go out of business as a result. Why is this going to kill Nokia?

HTC had nothing to lose and probably gets paid by MS for making WM phones. Others like Dell, Samsung etc have other products to rely on. Since Nokia stopped making rubber boots, paper, televisions etc, phones are their main product line. Betting your future on a proven loser of an OS is suicidal.

He's basically saying they'll hold on to MeeGo in case it all goes pear shaped with WP7..

If i'd been working on this platform i'd be very very pis*ed off right now.

The decision was made last November apparently..

2010 nokia failed with maemo
2011 nokia fails with meego
2012 nokia will fail with wm7
2013 nokia is going to use android
