Why couldn't it've come out (worldwide, no weird production snags etc) 3mth ago at the very least Nokia!?
For the love of God, what is wrong with you!?
People still dont get it? Answer is simple: it would hurt Microsoft if the damn device was delivered in us/uk/german too... Microsoft knows that very well thats why they feed Nokia with money and make they dont release it.

So? At least Motorola has the foresight to get the OMAP4 chip whereas Nokia doesn't.

Apparently it does, it also looks like a mix of N900 and N9 UI.
Multi-tasking grid view, plus the option of adding widgets etc.

I have never been an Android fan, I use my N900 on a daily basis, and for the record I can afford to buy both but can't see the point of having 2 phones.

I suspect that as nice as the N9 appears (I have yet to hold one - thanks Nokia UK), the Prime has better specs, better support and significant developper interest...

Sigh, if only the N9 had come out in early 2011.

The satisfaction of being a maemo fanboy stems from the fact that maemo will never be finished.

Let me put it this way:

lim t -> infinity of U(maemo(t)) = 0

where t is Time and U is a strictly increasing utility function with decreasing marginal rate of maemo.

The grid icon is the icon that brings up the app tray--it's just a set of organized pages listing all the applications installed on the device.

Although, starting with Honeycomb there IS a button that shows you a list of open apps that are running so that you can immediately switch between tasks. (See: http://blogs.computerworld.com/17759..._3_0_honeycomb) This button still seems to be shown in that video--on the bottom right side of the screen... it looks like an overlapping windows icon--so my guess is that that's the way you'll switch between open tasks. (See a picture here: http://ces.cnet.com/2300-32491_1-100...s=0&o=10006142 )

You can see things in action under Honeycomb a bit better here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGIU2JX1U5Y#t=7m45s

Ice Cream Sandwich isn't out yet, technically, so it'll be hard to find a specific video on that task switching interface.

It's not a grid view of currently running apps... it's a scrolling list (at least it was in Honeycomb), but I didn't see it shown in the video at all. Everything I saw in the video had already existed in Honeycomb except for the theme colors and the smaller not-tablet-sized screen support through frames (which has been in Android's design spec since Andriod 1.5).

thanks for the well researched comment Mr Dan. It is clear as soon as android sorts out a few things many here will be glad to leave Nokia. No company or brand has a monopoly on my future devices or wallet and nor should it on anyone else's.
