so the "lower than expected" Q1 results that Nokia reported were expected all along? By Ballmer maybe?

Well, that's the essence of apps. That's the reason Windows is popular on the PC, all the games are on Windows. The OS, the HW means nothing, they are both commodity for the apps. But being in control of the OS and HW means everything.

Sort of funny to hear you railing against Android as the big bad guy that killed competition when I'd wager Microsoft already got their money's worth by quashing several competitors in Symbian, Maemo and MeeGo, all of which Nokia had been developing before Microsoft's mole-man came in. Two of those are Linux-based, so I'm sure they handily got their money's worth indeed.

Thanks for highlighting the Fitch rating I mentioned some posts ago. Recycling DOES work.

It appears you forgot to re-quote the image that went along with it. Sometimes it's the garnish that makes the drink!

Well, Android does have some benefits: It works, lots of apps, can be found on lots of cool devices and so on.

I don't think Android is particularly interesting based on my limited experience with owning three Android tablets, though I'm happy that the one I still have, the Iconia A500, is getting ICS in a few days.

I still use my N900 more than anything else, including my desktop and laptop computers. I'm using it now in preference to a tablet sitting 3 inches away from it.
