Well again not an official figure but the one I have in my head from reading things here is that they're shipping something in the region of 3 million units.

Personally I don't have a problem with either the development delay or the shipping one. What I do have a problem with is twitter, this forum and the internet in general is full of people asking where can they buy the N900 and when can they buy it. It completely dominates the discourse of the product and Nokia have no answer for it. That's poor release planning and poor marketing but Nokia does it every single time.

@nuknuk ok, I emailed Nokia Poland Here is what they replyed (translated to English):

"We kindly inform that we do not have information when parcel will be sent to you because parcels are sent directly from warehouse in order determined by order date. However, first N900 devices will be sent in week 48, the last week of November".

I preorder in mid October.

It might be cheap. Nokia is known for its ability to make good profits even on cheap phones. They know how to trim everything from the start to the end.

If Nokia shipped by road to maximise profits would it not be reasonable to assume that it wouldn't be in the UK/at retailers by now? At best it would be here today no?
Ummm. Shipping by road from Korea hardly maximizes profits and looking at a map of the world it probably isn't the fastest and easiest route either, 6 days seem rather impossible to me.

Although I have no idea if it only takes 10 to 14 days to ship to the large european harbours (Rotterdam, Hamburg, for example).

For shipping by train you probably already have two days from Korea to Russia.

So if it is supposed to take around two weeks, I guess it's a mixture between ship and plane or plane and road.

As said: Only guessing.

I just called Nokia as they told me they would have stock today.

They said they were sent an email last Saturday afternoon stating that the delivery is now on hold with no new delivery date.
Could I take your name and call you when we know more.

To be honest this is getting beyond a joke, I broke my phone over a month ago and have been waiting to replace it, stupidly believing all of the dates thrown around by Nokia.

No sun - no moon - no N900!

No morn - no noon - no N900 -

No dawn - no dusk - no proper time of day - no N900.

No warmth, no cheerfulness, no healthful ease, no N900,

No comfortable feel in any member - no N900 -

No shade, no shine, no butterflies, no bees, no N900,

No fruits, no flowers, no leaves, no birds! - no N900

November! No N900! November!

Check the BBC website out - they did a project called "The Box" - following a shipping container around the world for a year. It's just finished

You can check it's route and how long it took - should give some idea

Clicky linky to bbc'y here!

Err, if you order direct from Nokia, you can still order sim free, here:

Which is seriously odd. If they are only going to sell to new Voda-customers then I am out of here. I am tied into Orange, and when I leave them I won't want voda. I think Nokia would be very very silly to not sell sim-free.
