The reason for not being able to sync is obviously a misbehaviour either on the Scalix side (EAS 12.0/12.1 not being fully implemented) or on the MfE side. No matter which side actually causes the problem, Vitaly came up with a simple workaround to fix it!

I forced the N900 to only use EAS 2.5 no matter what the initial sync negotiation would come up with. If Vitaly agrees I would post a short howto here on the forum.

THX Vitaly. You made my day! Go have a beer on my tap tonite!

Sounds great! Can you please post a howto or send me some instructions via mail? i really would like to use my N900 with my scalix server

Could you publish this howto in the wiki page (troubleshooting section). I will review it to make sure this is complete.

However, I am not happy with the workaround as this is a workaround The logs you have sent are looking a little bit strange for us and we don't have a concrete idea of what is wrong at our side and how this specific use case shall be supported.

If any engineer from Scalix could contact me (through private messaging mechanism for example), I would be happy. We do not support non-MS services officially as you know but I still want to have as wide coverage of ActiveSync-based services as it is possible.

I'll look over the wiki tomorrow morning.

Don't let this thing give you too much of a headache. AS support on Scalix is very much at the beginning and AES 12.0/12.1 are not fully implemented. So might as well be that MfE is right there, but Scalix isn't...

I'll see what I can do for you in terms of getting in contact with Scalix.

So long
TOM

Mmmm. I have expected to receive the text files with logs, not screenshots.

Don't worry. It was my fault. My instructions were not detailed enough. I have updated them. Could you repeat the experiment and upload textual representation of activesync log here? Thank you in advance and sorry for bothering you.

As not being marketing guy, I can not communicate the plans for the future. Sorry.

Hi Vitaly, At the start of this thread you said that the n900 using mfe was compatible with exchange 2007. I could not complete first time sync with our hosted exchange provider until i installed the 2.2009 update.

Now the calendar, tasks and contacts are synchronised but the email seems to be on a never ending sync and there are no new emails. It took over 5 hours to get this far. I had great hopes for the n900 but now i am starting to see why the iphone and blackberry are best sellers.....they simply work but i still hate them.

Am i doing something wrong?

Vodafone told me that i had void the warranty because i updated the phone. Their support couldnt help so i was on my own. Hence 5 hours later.

How does it behave? The initial account synchronization (which is the last step in the account configuration) never ends, have I got you right?

Thank for your answer I have already seen that bug, and added a comment and my logfile from that sync.
