Yes you do. TOR uses the internet connection to tell GV to start a call.

In other words, when I am texting someone, I would like them to see my number as GV number, but they see an unknown callback number (to them) which I am forced to use as screen name by your design. When I put my GV number as screen name, of course nothing works even if I have the correct callback number in the forward field.

The forward number should be what it says, i.e., callback number. And the screen name should be able to take any string as in username, alias, or at least GV number as a caller ID.
I actually can't figure out how to sms at all yet, using TOR. When I go to start a new sms and click to get a list of contacts, it says I have no contacts (even though if I check under 'my contacts', it displays everyone just fine). Should I not be using Conversations to sms?

I think my problem is caused because I'm only allowed to sms to a 'cell' number, and all my contacts are 'google voice' numbers... How is it you sms?

According to Maemo, you are sending an IM and not a sms. I dislike that they made that distinguishment.

Weird. I guess my question now would be if I have a contact with a cell number and an IM account, how does it know whether to text or IM, if I'm only selecting the IM button?

From contacts app:
You have a button per form of communication (SMS button, GV button, GTalk IM button, etc)

From conversations app: "Send IM To..." lets you select a contact according and I think protocol.

You've been really helpful, thank you! I think I only have one more problem--
It seems to think every contact I import is a google voice number, instead of a cell or home number. One of my GV contacts, for example, had 2 cells and one house number, but it imported as 3 different contacts, and lost the cell vs home information. Is this an error with my inputting the google contact in the first place, or maybe a TOR setting I could change?

a TOR contact can only have one phone number. Maemo allows merging these contacts though. The avatars provide some crude form of phone number distinguishable. I did not generate an icon for every case I think so if there is a missing case, let me know.

Great apps you have created, but still having trouble with once in while getting the network error cannot connect. Before I would go into the advance settings hit done and save and it would be all good. Now it seems that nothing I do will bring itback online for much longer periods of time; 5 sometimes 15 minutes, thank goodness for DC. So what is everyone doing to get it back faster?
