They don't have to make promises, but just tell us which devices are also planned to be supported. That's not a promise but just transparency and i don't know what is so horribly wrong in working a little bit more transparent. I think in this case it would not only help the community, but also Jolla.

I think they will have to start looking at other Sony devices anyway. The Xperia X is selling out rapidly, so even if there would be a huge demand, soon there will be no stock available.

James said once that the Xperia X is the new community phone, it is no for general users, so... People from community already bough or will buy it.

There might be more to that. Sony will be releasing Oreo for Xperia X thus I highly doubt they won't be producing more of those phones. But the longer the wait the harder it might be to get the phone

It's time moving forward for jolla with SFOS not backward... So yes time support XZ(s/1) and later phones.....

My new XZs is rapid with Android but hell I already missing SFOS

I just confirmed the bootloader can be unlocked checking the Service menu

But I have to wait some days to make sure phone works before I unlock it

I also have Android 7.1.1 on my Xperia X (F5121). I unlocked the bootloader, rooted and debloated it....
But i prefer to use Jolla C as my daily driver because of SailfishOS.

Android isn't really an option for me. Even rooted not... ;-)

hee!
I just got my shiny new F5121 and unboxed it 20 minutes ago!
It's difficult to resist the temptation to power it on until I'll get to purchase SFOS

Well, since they introduced three new lines since then I doubt that production of X is still ongoing. Add to that that when they came to market some 14-15 months ago they were quite expensive for they had inside. Which again raises the same question about the point of buying an OS for year and a half old HW.
For me, it's not about the 50€, it's just that I'm not sure what I'm buying. I like sailfish, I will support jolla but OS in a state that it is now isn't worth 50€.
