People that do these reviews...
Rarely try to asses the device they're reviewing thoroughly.
Esp. if it's an entirely new OS/UI/ecosystem etc.
The only review I've read where there's been in-depth/well-considered analysis, was GSMArena's.
And even that review didn't really convey the total picture.
Reviews -by their nature- are too flawed/limited unfortunately
I totally agree.

Not much effort spent - but maybe that represents the mass market and public in general?

I guess you get one shot at making a first impression before quickly deferring to preconceived beliefs.

My word of the month, shame.

Why not get it from mainland China? It should be rolling out there right about now.
Or Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, to name some off-the-top-of-my-head.
Anyway, here is the thread for discussing pricing/availability

We know there's skype and facebook support, how about MSN and google talk, jabber etc.
Not sure if you're aware of this thread, but I've found it to be very informative

Then of course there is this "golden oldie"

But AFAIK these sim-cards don't have NFC, they work in conjunction w/a ph that has NFC.
And even if they have NFC built-in....
There'd need to be some kind of support in the fw, so the ph can work w/the the secure-element of the sim, right?
So Nokia needs to support that, not sure it could work "out-of-the-box".

Both are cool--but you wouldn't want to be a dinosaur during their decline. That's the problem with orphaned OS's... being amongst the declining population.

It is for someone who needed to know that before buying one just to come to the forums to be repeatedly told that they should have researched their purchase better before they bought one.

It's a review--except the obvious errors, they did at least get the point across that it's a shame that it's based on a dying operating system. Despite the fact that you don't like to hear it, people need to know that before they purchase one intentionally.

That's not the point. The point is, would you like to own a dinosaur or not? I'm not an N9. But I do want to own one. Quite different.

Fairly interesting, scroll up to ravo's 1st post, then read the thread down to dsmobile's post

I'm not sure he's saying there was ever a N9-2, more interested in the 1.1 performance comment.
In the past dsmobile's been spot-on "sometimes"....

jalyst cant quote but about nfc an sim

maybe they using simtoolkit+cryptoengine, dont know if that implemented in harmattan. but simtookkit was used in sweden banks to pay bills using mobile. so my guess it could be used in similar way for nfcpayment?

and would be to hard to implement if the shitboard at nokia are willing to let the engineers do it...

Does it play 720p videos? x264 mkv for eg. Without the need for conversion and the sorts

Define "hackerdevice"... from what I can tell, all you have is developer mode and a device that's not as open as the preceding device.
