Hi folks! Just in case you thought your pathological porting puppy was slowing down, here's another gaming first for Nokia tablets! <drum roll...>

TecnoballZ!

Right now it's perfectly playable with normal mouse (synergy) but will need some modifications for stylus-only play (edit) so far only the wait for initial ball release needs changing - normally mapped to right mouse click.

You'll also need libmikmod installed for the music. Downloads, notes and eventual updates available here.

Cheers!

Awesome!

But-- stylus? I think most of these games will work better with fingertip control.

Just tried with fingertip control and it works fine. If the game seems to lose track of exactly where your finger/stylus is located, hold it down and drag left-right over the game field, that seems to re-calibrate it automagically!

I managed to overcome the wacked-out dependencies and scraped-together debian packages based on gregale/it2006. Woot! Go get em eh.

Right now i think it's way too easy and kind of slow. Crank up difficulty right away. I won't twiddle with game settings out of respect for the author.

(edit) It's those ball-catching time-sucking sinks in the corners. I don't see what they add to the game

(edit2) There's stuff to be done here... need to start games with /usr/games/tecnoballz --full ... needs menu and minimize function etc etc... I'm close to a finished UQM right now so i'm working to get that done first.

Lol Uh, thanks... If you want to use finger to control the paddle, move finger along the top of screen to avoid blocking the view.

New version up today.

- Right mouse button now mapped to dpad enter key
(use dpad select button to fire a held ball)

- Removed unneded graphics to reduce install size by 600kb

- Minor gameplay tweaks for better action

- F6 (minimize) button now works

TODO:

- Absolute mouse positioning
- Launch game from menu
(currently must be started with /usr/games/tecnoballz)

Using the link from your homepage to install the needed libs on my N800 I get the following errors:

Code:
osso-application-installer 4.46, UI version 2
/usr/bin/dpkg-deb -f '/var/tmp/libmikmod2_3.1.11-a-6_armel.deb'
Package must have "Section: user/FOO" to be considered compatible.
/usr/bin/dpkg-deb -f '/var/tmp/libvorbisidec1_1.2.0-1_armel.deb'
Package must have "Section: user/FOO" to be considered compatible.
How can I get the game to run on my N800?

Thanks for the feedback mredeker!

I'm looking into ways to fix this. One post by aflegg says the files need to be uploaded to the extras application respository. This isn't going to happen very soon, since maemo.org login is broken for me.

So currently the debs need to be installed from command-line, as root.

dpkg -i libmikmod2_3.1.11-a-6_armel.deb etc

Hi ArminS,

thanks for the reply. I could install the libs and the data file with no problem using the command-line as you said.

But installing the binary I receive this error:

Code:
Nokia-N800-10:/media/mmc1# dpkg -i tecnoballz_0.91cvs20060616-2_armel.deb
Selecting previously deselected package tecnoballz.
(Reading database ... 13337 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking tecnoballz (from tecnoballz_0.91cvs20060616-2_armel.deb) ...
Setting up tecnoballz (0.91cvs20060616-2) ...
/var/lib/dpkg/info/tecnoballz.postinst: /var/lib/dpkg/info/tecnoballz.postinst: 61: dpkg-statoverride: not found
Can you help me?

Thanks.
