Well it looks like my time with the n900 has come to an end. Lesson learned is not to move heavy furniture to the dump with your n900 in your pocket.... Its a sad sad day.

Only issue now is I still have 7 months left on my contract. Anybody know how much it would be to repair looking at the pic? Guessing it would cost more than its worth and I would be as well moving on and trying to figure out which phone to replace it with, and how to get it without paying through the nose ie contents insurance claim or cashback via quidco for taking out new contract and paying the old one off....as I grudge buying another handset.

In case this is goodbye. Its been a wild and wacky ride

Also try to use TV-out to make backup and transfer crucial data to PC (or microSD card).

LCD screens actually seem a lot cheaper than I thought judging from ebay. Maybe not goodbye after all then. To be continued once I figure out best option.

In my country I can take the phone to the Nokia service where they examine the phone and give me feedback what should be replaced and repaired and how much will be all, then I can decide if I agree with repairing or not.

I would definitely repair the phone, if the cost would be less then 150€.

I fell off a Lorry / Truck tailift with my old Nokia 6288 in my pocket which smashed the screen and made pretty colours, similar to your photo. I took it to a shop and they charged me £30 to repair. I thought the phone was a goner. Get a quote from a Mobile Phone shop first before you write if off.

It cost me less than $50 to replace my screen with a OEM replacement off Ebay. The new screen seems to be just as good as the old one, though keeping it dust-free during install -is- an issue.
It also took me less than an hour to do it - Just need to carefully remove a few screws and wiggle it apart.

Same thing happened to mine. I just sent it to Nokia USA repair. Anyone have any experience with them?
