Since updating to 2.1.2.3 landscape orientation doesn't work no more. Neither dynamic nor static. Is there a way to find out if it's software or hardware?

Anyone's got the same problem?

Yes, I did. Rebooting did not work. What did was taking the back cover off and pressing and squeezing firmly in the top area, above the battery.

yeah, I took the back cover off, battery out and it worked, kinda:

browser's working fine, other apps don't, homescreen eather, so I'm kinda tilted towards software (update bug?)

A patch? An update would have removed it.

There are many patches for landscape, for example homescreen in landscape mode.

......"What did was taking the back cover off and pressing and squeezing firmly in the top area, above the battery."........

wow.

I just gotta say....
I JUST gotta say..

god...
there is just too much to say about this ...problem....and solution..
and not much of it good.

Macgyver would close his eyes and shake his head over most of the DIY solutions for the n900..

But this...
applying pressure to a specific point of the guts of the device...
takes the cake.

creators and makers of the Sailfish better be fixing this issue....plain and simple.
This is just incredible.

Chen!!!!

For God's sake hurry with a proper maemo device!

Have a quick look on all sensors. If not only inertial ones (accel., gyro) are dead then you have SW problems. As phisically for example proximity sensor is not anywhere related to the acceleration sensor which controll screen rotation.

For sensor check you could use for example Messwerk fom openrepos:
https://openrepos.net/content/cfr34k/messwerk

I had a similar problem after update. However had problems with Jolla account, store, devel mode,... as well.

A tiny correction - this was clearly a hardware issue, so it would be the creators of the Jolla phone, not the Sailfish OS.
Otherwise I fully agree with you.

Accepting the unacceptable is an integral part of using any system, depending on what you consider unacceptable. Windows/Mac users might consider Linux's lack of usability and the need to understand what is going on under the bonnet unacceptable. Linux users might consider running proprietary software unacceptable. Youghurt or sausage lovers might consider not knowing how their favourite products are actually made unacceptable. There are tradeoffs wherever you look.

Indeed. I forgot to mention that I ran the CSD tool first and found that my sensors did not work. The squeezing solution fixed them.

there are only a few things in the world which should ever be squeezed ...

charmin...for one...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L50tuag6iRs

and the various (and for this forum a more censored verbiage used...) appendages and sundry delicate and oh-so-want-to squeezable body parts of one's significant other.

the only phone that should ever be squeezed ....

is the one my puppy uses...
