Hello forum ,

it's interesting. I can remember for sure, that I was able to make skype calls without the nokia headset.

Just with normal headphones - talking through the intern microphone.

But right now - i tried to make a call and my partner couldn't hear me.

So, as i could understand, after i put my headphones in, the intern microphone mutes... How could I solve this problem?

Shouldn't happen... You try speakerphone mode, and make sure the mic's working there?

Speakerphone mode? What's this?

The intern mic works ok when no headphones are put in!

The NOKIA - headphones works ok also (with mic built into the headphones)

Just the normal headphones stop the built into n800 mic from working

Well, speakerphone mode would be using it with neither BT nor wired headphones.

Unless your cans have a non-standard connector, it should be able to tell there's no mic, and work properly.

Workaround would be to use alsamixer to unmute the internal mic after plugging the phones in, but AFAIK, alsamixer's only been made to work in Debian.

"normal" 3prong headphones will disable the internal mic when plugged in your NIT. I believe this has to do with how the jack works and not the software/OS. Diablo has nothing to do with it.

Curious. Because they didn't, last time I tried it (which may actually have been OS2007; before I got my BT headset.).

From Nokia's specs, "The Nokia AV connector is fully compliant with the OMTP "Wired Analog Audio" specification." (Their link to the OMTP spec is broken: http://www.omtp.org/Publications/Dis...2-05c7742ac36b works.) The OMTP spec, though, requires a mic resistance to ground of 4 kOhm minimum; when plugging in phones with a standard 3-pole connector, that's shorted instead, allowing the N8x0 to detect that there's no mic.

This is the way it used to work; it's possible something failed in your hardware, cybic, but unlikely. It looks like a regression, and should be filed in http://bugs.maemo.org if it's the actual problem. (i.e. if the mic is actually disabled, not just Skype acting strange. Test with Internet Call to tell.)

I tried this in Skype yesterday and had the same problem. My calls work fine if I don't have the headphones plugged in, but if I plug in my headphones, it's like Skype is expecting their to be a mic along with the headphones. Built-in microphone goes mute.
I'm running Diablo on the n800.

Ok, got a solution... But it's kinda strange...

I took my headphones about 100 times out and in and now it works... I suppose, it was a pin which is testing the input of headphones jack - and it was to near of it and maybe connected...

So right now (and after 10000000 reboots) it's still working -

I can't get the internal or included Nokia headset mike to work with the Skype test call. Both mikes work with the Maemo recorder which implies a software problem. Sound with or without Nokia headset works fine. My N810 "About product" display says Version 4.2008.23-14. There is a button on the mike, what does it do?

sorry to bring up an old thread, but was a solution ever found for this? i'm currently traveling, and I would like to use headphones while using skype... don't want the whole world to listen in on my call. works perfectly without headphones, but as soon as plugged in, mic gets muted. i see to remember that didn't have this issue on my n800, but it is evident on my n810. any advice would be appreciated.
