Dear Friends,

I have a question regarding this matter, I have Nokia N900 and I wonder if I can do a direct installation on Maemo Leste instead of installing it on SD Card.. A direct Flash.

On official tutorial it's mentioned that you can configure Leste as main OS, without leaving Fremantle working.
Still on SD card, but as main OS:

If you want to use your card as portable disk, you can have three partitions on this SD:
1. For boot and kernel files of Leste
2. For Leste's rootfs
3. For your data.(it should be FAT32).
I have Leste via this way.

Hope it will help you

That was a helpful answer, you said that you have this on this way. I was wondering if I can install it on the other way like removing the mains OS in Main Storage instead of SD card and install it. That was my question..

My question to you my friend.. Can you upload a video on YouTube about your device and how Maemo Leste is functioning.. Thorough or brief as you like.. I want to see it if you please...

Ok, will to this in this weekend

It will not give you real benefits. Built-in eMMC is slower than normal SDHC cards

Sms and calls are not ready, atleast wirh GUI. Many things still in development, so not ready to replace Fremantle yet unless you are dev.

I think even for the devs, we haven't quite switched yet. But we really, really want to. So it will come. ;-)

Before I am ready to put Leste into main phone as only OS...it would be also good to know how to transfer addressbook, SMSs etc. from Maemo 5 to Maemo Leste. But it seems that this might be some kind of start for tool to transfer SMSs:

I don't mind if I have to first backup with Nokia Suite.

Address book in particular you can import/export using the address book software, which is also available on leste now. We'll touch some more on that in the upcoming update, but again there's more work to do to make everything use it.

The N900 doesn't do audio in calls yet, so it's probably not ready for that in particular.
