Do we have any confirmation for this? I read this everywhere.on the web now, but no article gives a source... And if they do, it's this one Yahoo article.

Not really a 'Jolla' Phone, but a third-party SailfishOS phone.

I wouldn't expect that this would cause Jolla to abandon plans (if any) to produce a Jolla Phone successor, surely there is room for more than one SailfishOS Phone on the market so people dont have to choose between the OS they want and various hardware features they might like.

Whats even more interesting is the idea that Yota would bet the farm on SailfishOS and drop android completely, that's a massive risk but perhaps they are under pressure from the Russian Government to do so.

AFAIK based on various bits and pieces of information it looks like Jolla actually strongly prefers just working on the software (Sailfish OS) and licensing it to others, rather than selling their own hardware (that they have to design, manufacture and support). The current Jolla phone being a sort of a proof of concept and the Tablet being something similar + free money from Intel for using an Intel CPU in it.

I would myself rather prefer Jolla making their own devices as I'm afraid third part devices might miss some of the unique Jolla features, such as ToH and might give more incentives to Jolla open source stuff so that they have something to license (IIRC this has even been stated a few times by Jolla people).

The last point is IMHO quite short-sighted, as you can still license your trademarks and artworks/themes/etc. while keeping the software itself open source. You can also charge for support, enhancements, certifications, etc. And it is not some crazy unproven idea, there are companies that are doing this rather successfully.

It seems to not be true.

However, that doesn't mean they are working on it.
Or that they the next yPhone won't also be a jPhone.

(Yeah, I said jPhone, come at me bro)

According to kommersant.ru next YotaPhone will be built on ZTE factory (planning to sign the contract next month). They will show it in 1st quarter of 2016.

No words about sailfishOS, though.

Little bit off-topic, but e-yes (Nitdroid dev) was working at Yota a while ago, maybe he has someone from within who can share some info.
