Android 2.2 Froyo has just conquered Nokia N900!

This guy wiped the floor with Maemo OS - threw it to the trashcan and installed mobile world's hottest OS - Android 2.2.

Way to go!

It's good that Nokia is using common hardware like ARM-processors so it will be a trivial task to replace Nokia's stock crappy OS with something better in the future as well.

It must be hard to tolerate it when somebody wipes the floor with Maemo and installs something better.

Sure.

I'm glad however and I think I'm not the only one.

Hmmm...I was one of the first Android users. I got rid of Android (among several reasons) to get a no-rooting necessary, full-stack, real linux OS - Maemo. Why would I want to take a step backward?

Because Android will get updates, whereas Maemo will probably not?

Which Android will get updated? Half the existing devices are stuck in official 1.6. Hacking a 2.2 on them is like hacking it on N900.

You could always dual boot. Maemo for mobile computer usage and Android for smartphone usage.
