Hi!

I just signed the petition "Nokia Corporation & Microsoft Corporation: Release Symbian Source Code & Make It Open Source & Release latest update builds & Save the environment" on Change.org.

It's important. Will you sign it too? Here's the link:

Symbian is (mostly - as Maemo is) opensource.
You can find the code for example HERE.

However, Symbian is not a good OS [In my opinion] , so NO i won't sign the petition. If you want to "save" something this way, save MeeGo

The future is in Linux (or UNIX if you wan't) and Symbian isn't either.
So sorry. It was nice, but it's over. Bye Symbian.

Don't mix the OS and the GUI now....

I mean OS as OS. I'm not Symbian developer, so I don't know how it realy looks "inside". I was Symbian user for long time, and what i know perfectly is the "stability" of it :P
However GUI is a part of OS - if you can't choose another one - so when you don't like the GUI, you dont like the whole OS.
For example multitasking in S60. Unusable.

EPOC is one of the best OS that's ever been developed for mobile phones.

What do you mean by unusable multitasking? S60 is the only real multitasking OS beside MeeGo/Maemo. Sounds like you don't know what you are talking about.

I'm a die hard fan of Symbian and Maemo. I signed it but petition's are useless. I don't think that Nokia will ever make Symbian Open source.

Little outdated nowadays
I have no experience with these old Symbians (or Symbian predecessors) so I can't judge it. I have only funny experience with 5800XM, C6-00 and a few other's. And i don't like it (today).
When it was my "Device NO.1" i loved it. (playing Bounce... yeah ) but in comparsion with Maemo (and also Android or MeeGo) ... sadly i must say:
..Symbian is not a good OS..

Can you run GPS or i.e. Sportstracker on your Android and also play music and take a call without stop of the GPS?

The concept of it is quite good, but in real life (maybe it is just caused by my two devices..) it is, how i wrote - "unusable".
My C6 is really really slow - and that makes the multitasking unusable. If you have some other device - and it is working quickly, than Ok, you are lucky man...
