Nokia's first phone with the new Symbian (Symbian^3) will be released: Nokia X10.
It runs on the same CPU as the N900 (Arm Cortex A8, 600MHz)

Check out the video over here:

Since Symbian^3 is open source, will it be possible to port this on the N900?

We could use some Dualboot on our device so we can use both OS's

Comments are welcome

I have never liked Symbian, but nevertheless it would be awesome.

I am still waiting for an Android port.

I'm 100% sure we are seeing OMAP3 Symbian^3 phone from Nokia, but X10 is fake. That X10 is "leaked" by the same guy who made video of one of the early N87 leaks some 5 months ago in exactly the same way as this. It had 3mpx front camera with flash, design from 5330, Nokia in wrong font and lots of typos.

I'm interested about strong multimedia Symbian^3 phones from Nokia, but can't say i want it to N900. Symbian^4 yes, but at that time we already got MeeGo/Harmattan.

Right now: not a chance. While the Symbian^3 code was indeed dump^Wreleased this month, it's still far from being a useable system. See http://blog.symbian.org/2010/02/05/i...n-so-now-what/ for details (high-level summary: doesn't compile with GCC, slow/buggy graphics).

In the longer term: maybe (I suspect Symbian developers might end up using N900s as developer "boards"), but why would you want to? Symbian^3 won't run existing S60/UIQ apps, and the Qt apps it will run are supposed to be easily portable to Maemo.

By the time Symbian^3 (or, more likely, Symbian^4) devices are out and there's an Ovi Maps version for those I'm sure there will be an updated version for Maemo as well.

Symbian^3 is S60v5 compatible, however, the Qt-based Symbian^4 won't be.

I could use a symbian dual boot for missing phone/email functionality

Symbian^3 is indeed compatible with S60v5

So, basically, it should be possible to play NGage games on the Maemo

ANd yeah, like bret hart said; the phone app is way better on the Symbian, hehe

*hides from the mad Maemo users*
