I didn't read articles here for long time. Lots of issues with summer vacations, new car and so on. My NIT mostly collected dust on shelf. But now I took it back and trying use as PPC. Installed lot of software for Hildon. All works... good enough. But I still wanna hildonized KDE apps, working faster than ported KDE3.

I read in some threads here about people running KDE4. I see even some links - but I don't see there almost nothing about stability and packages stuffing.

I still have questions: is KDE4 already hildonized and working on Diablo? where can I download working binary set and find instalation guide for KDE4 and KOffice?

During the past google summer of code I've worked on getting kde4 to run on small devices, with maemo being one of the targets. As part of this I've also created packages for quite a bit of KDE4. Some info about this can be found at http://kde.garage.maemo.org/ but I really should get some nice installation instructions on there instead of referring to some (partly outdated) blog entries of mine.

at least tell what has to be installed first

or better list heading .debs for all parts - office, games, plasma & so on

How is this different from Penguinbait's KDE install? (No blasphemy or disrepect intended towards the very helpful Penguinbait.)

penguinbait has a complete kde 3.5.10; this is
kde 4.1. There were rumours long ago that kde
4 would be less of a memory/resource hog. I
wonder if that is true. If so, it would be better
for the tablet.

ah. Thanks, albright.

Anybody know how usable 4.1 is on the tablet? Penguinbait's got the onscreen keyboard and CD/DVD drive support going for it as well. I'm wondering if it would be worth the switch.

Those pictures look very impressive!

Are you planning to produce an easy to install deb for all to use?

I am just a "tester". I know nothing about coding and packaging...

and i think the install is not too difficult, just apt-get install <something>

KDE 4.1 is ten times slower than panguinbaits kdea and with that speed, it is just for playing, not for working with.

ok, some parts of kde work really well, like plasma, animation is smooth and fast, but things like browsing web is possible but really laggy. Some videos do not play well, but as a playground, KDE 4.1 is nice.
