From xterm create a directory in your home called '.fonts':
Code:
$ mkdir ~/.fonts
And copy your font(s) there. They should be available for use immediately.

but it said that the directory already exist but when i go back to the file manager it was not there.

If a directory name starts with a period, it is a hidden directory, so it wouldn't show up in the file manager by default. I couldn't figure out how to see hidden files in the regular file manager, but in the emel2fm file manager program, there is a green "H" that makes it possible to see hidden files.
