How about an app that would allow us to send say 50 SMS messages at once, just to really annoy our friends.
It could be quite a fun way to make use of unlimited text bundles, or use up spare texts at the end of the month.

There are some websites that offer this service like ClamTXT but it is not available outside the USA and cannot be sent from your own number.

This is very simple to do, have a search on here and you'll find many scripts and examples of how to send a text through code/commands. It's just a matter of doing it within a loop. But darned if I'll ever write it. The idea of Qt getting the hiccups and someone getting charged a fortune.. and my name on the app.. gives me the shivers :P

Thanks for the info, I'll have a look into that later, I was hoping for an easy installable application where the user could set the amount of texts they want to send.

Why would somebody get charged a fortune for the creation of this app?

I mean if it starts firing out thousands of texts and the user goes over his fair usage limit (so begins to get charged), or gets cut off by the phone network due to spamming

Is there no way to make an auto cut off within the application so that it does not go over a set amount of messages?

No, it's written in Python for the Nokia N900.

You'll need to write a Python interpreter in Java and then adjust all the Maemo-specific bits of Python code in SMS Bomb to address Blackberry OS instead.

or

You'll need to rewrite SMS Bomb in Java.
