ANNOUNCEMENT: Call to Nokia N810 WiMAX and XOHM users

Andyschism (Andy B.) at the Arundel Mills XOHM store is about to get alot more business as more of us in Washington, DC, and northern VA get our Nokia N810 WiMAX Editions, XOHM USB Adapters, and XOHM Modems.

In speaking with XOHM last night, we're welcome to use and test the XOHM network here in Washington, DC, and northern VA as unsupported testers until it becomes officially announced, at which point we'll be supported.

Feel free to add your contact information and Nokia N810 WiMAX experiences in this thread. We're trying to build up a contact list so we can share experiences and knowledge regarding XOHM, WiMAX, and the Nokia N810 WiMAX Edition.

It'd be nice to have a WiMax forum to keep this stuff organised.

I agree. I think 2009 will be "the Year of WiMAX" assuming Sprint/Clearwire/XOHM really take off. If Sprint does collapse under their own weight or that of the economy, I'm hoping that XOHM survives with the help of another carrier?

Either way, we're going to need an ITT WiMAX forums soon.

Mike's joining us with a vast experience with the Classmate XO, Sugar, and the MIT Media Lab. I'm trying to get him to test the XOHM USB Adapter with the XO.

What's best: the XOHM USB Adapter or the XOHM PC card?

According to Andyschism's tests over in Arundel Mills, he's had better luck with the USB adapters than the PCMCIA ExpressCards.

Apparently the ExpressCards don't support an external antenna (RNA) adapter and the onboard antenna isn't as good as the USB adapter's antenna. Until a better ExpressCard is released, I'm recommending the USB adapter for own purchases here (currently 9 USB adapters in use).

It would be bad *** to have 9 XOHM USB adapters on one machine! Grab some USB hubs and let the good times roll!

Does everyone see this? WiMax brings people together! It should be part of Xohm's tagline. This is something 3G can't do.
