Hi, so you all have seen http://maemo.nokia.com - and there is also a growing http://forum.nokia.com/maemo in the way.

Let's discuss which changes this brings to maemo.org

- No more announcements coming from Nokia? There are now official channels to distribute Nokia news, and the community can ressonate whatever finds interesting via announcement of news karma.

- Talk and Brainstorm summaries in the homepage? There is this question about why maemo.org is not that visible today in maemo.nokia.com. This will improve specially when Maemo Select is nurtured really by maemo.org apps with high karma, but beyond this fact there is another obstacle that is the (still) too developer oriented focus of the home. Talk is the cool thing for users, and brainstorm should also be an obvious enty point for potential contributors.

- Widening Planet Maemo? Pushing tmo threads to News? The top news in the home are still too developer oriented most of the times. Maybe increasing the blogs aggregated with good writers more user-oriented would help. Also, should we pay any attention to all this microblogging thing? Still, bloggers could use a maemo-devel tag that could be aggregated in the Development section.

Just ideas. More?

Ah, forgot about http://maemo.org/intro/ . Now that part is well covered by both Nokia sites. Should this section be an intro to the Maemo community (but this can be covered in Community), or...?

I agree, Quim.

Note that my blog content re Maemo has covered fairly "soft" subjects, which did not go over well at first among all of the devel-type stuff. But I have been noticing a growing acceptance of my high-level content so I see this as a good sign for broadening blog scope overall. And it won't be hard for me at all to embrace more user-oriented topics.

This could also fit in with Daniel Gentleman's tabletblog, EIPI's blog and another that is about to be (re)launched which I cannot discuss just yet.

I agree that we need a lot more user-oriented (non-developer) Maemo blogs.

I myself am considering re-launching itT (under a different name) as a blog only site to focus mainly on my thoughts and experiences with the N900 plus user-oriented news.

Another thought is, I also can install a plug-in to the tmo forum software (like this) where any member can have their own space (blog) to write about anything Maemo related.

In any case, I predict that there will be a lot more new Maemo blogs sprouting in the next few weeks.

We get mentioned in http://maemo.nokia.com/maemo/open-source

Maemo.org is an open source project, sponsored and contributed by Nokia. It’s both for the application developers and for the platform developers providing a means to work together.
Nokia uses Maemo.org as the foundation of its own Maemo software that currently fuels Nokia’s Internet Tablets, such as N800 and N810, as well as the Nokia N900 mobile computer.

Maemo.org? Uh oh, do I hear General Antilles coming over to say something?

Well, we can spam them down with comments, until they learned to do it right
