Please help us out by adding videos of your own*.

*It doesn't have to be high-quality or have music or anything.
The point of this campaign, for the month leading up to Maemo Summit, is to post videos about your opinions and dreams. This does not require owning an N900 or even knowing a lot about Maemo 5. Let's start by posting short clips of what we hope to gain by owning an N900.
  • What do you think of what you've seen of Maemo 5 so far (either through using the SDK or watching videos)?
  • How will an N900 improve your daily live and/or productivity?
  • What will you be doing with your N900 and Maemo 5?
  • What are you planning to develop for Maemo 5?
...stuff like that.

So let's see your videos. They don't need to be pretty. They don't need to say a lot. Just post your reactions of what you know so far.

Thanks!
Tim

I'm surprised that not one person has tried to do this yet. Please post what you think is needed/missing/whatever. This is a pretty easy exercise that will very quickly tell Nokia how you feel (believe me, they are watching this channel).

So, what are you thoughts, your hopes, your critiques. Let us know!

If you have done something, but are having trouble sending it to the channel, please let me know.

Thanks!
Tim

If I understood one can, instead of a channel, create a playlist on Youtube? These are shared/exported. I'm not entirely familiar with Youtube though.

Hey, I'm just cutting together my little video and thinking about adding some music. Does anyone know the rules regarding having somebody elses music in your vid.?

PS: timsamoff would you be willing to add my video to the youtube thing if I sent it to you? (as stated before I have no access to youtube, facebook, twitter etc.)

Standard copyright applies. There is fair use, but just putting someone their music in your 1 minute long video is a no-no. There are licenses like Creative Commons. For example, Karoliina Salminen remixed a video of Peter Schneider intro speech at Maemo Summit, and added her own audio work to support the visual remix. If license is unclear, talk to author(s). OTOH, we have no control over Youtube and copyright infringement occurring there...

There's loads of suitably-licensed CC-BY music that you can use on YouTube videos, free and legal to download from jamendo.com:

Some more sources (including sound effects) are here:

Guys

I was thinking of the Mac in an envelope add. If anyone out there has a N900 and can pull that out of a really small envelope that would be cool

hmm... the size of the device is probably not the unique selling proposition of the N900 let alone Maemo 5.

Mobile performance, openness and usability (I hope) might be better candidates. Those who have devices already could show off a series of mini-tutorials of things you can't do as easily on other platforms..... And yes I would skip MMS for the moment
