"The state of New Jersey has already banned the use of cell phones without a hands free device and texting while behind the wheel, and using a GPS device could soon join the list. One New Jersey legislator has introduced a new bill that would make it illegal to use a non-voice operated GPS device while driving."

You can use MaemoMapper with flite.

Yeah..lol...you try making out that voice. You try making out that voice OVER the radio that's not also using the tablet.

Isn't using non-voice gps *worse* than using a cell phone? You don't know where you are, where you're going, and you're looking at a tablet instead of the road.

well I use my tablet to navigate all the time. I would not try to put in a destination while in moving traffic, but I have done it while sitting in traffic (as in stopped).

I think with enough lead time. and large enough tiles, you're good.
Far better than paper maps I think.
